Welcome back, I’m Sean, today we’re checking out some of Fosi Audio’s Headphone Amplifiers, to see which of these would suite you better. The SK02 is fresh out of the oven, and how does it stack up against the SK01. Let’s check it out.
These amplifiers today were sent over to me by Fosi Audio for review, but this is not a sponsored post and my review will be based on my honest and unbiased opinion.

How do you define volumes? SK02 and PC at 100%? And do the controls through the SK01?

I felt weird when listening to that example part, it sounded so good, have I been doing injustice to my ear? 😂😂 I have a question, I mainly play video games but I also make music, would Fosi Audio SK01 suit my needs? and also, I use TRUTHEAR Zero IEM headset Blue, when i am not playing any audio i hear a hissing sound and it is annoying, would this help in any way? thanks.

May i know if connected SK01 & SK02, the speaker cable / headphone cable should be put in which device?

Hello there. What I do is to plug the digital input via USB from pc into the SK02, then a 3.5mm cable out from the SK02 into the SK01, and your headphones cable will go out from the SK01 itself 😄 Hope that helps

@@SeanTalksTech that addresses the headphone connection issue but not the speaker cable. You didn't touch on this in your review, but one big issue with this set-up is that it can be problematic for active speakers because there's no true line-out on the SK01; it's a pre-out meaning the volume and tone controls are always on. This creates an issue when using powered speakers which have their own amp and volume control. You can easily blow out your speakers by effectively having two volume controls that are both on. I have a Klipsch ProMedia 2.1 system with active speakers and a powered subwoofer. As much as I would appreciate having tone controls for headphone use, the lack of a true line-out pass-through may be a dealbreaker. I'm looking at the FiiO K7, which has an output switch that can cycle through phones-out, line-out, and pre-out. It costs more than 2x the Fosi SK01 and only offers EQ in the BT version, through an app which only works on headphones. In a perfect world, the FiiO would have tone controls or the Fosi would have seperate line- and pre- outputs, or disable the pre-out when headphones are plugged in, but alas, here we are. If you're just running the Fosi through headphones, or powering passive speakers, it's not an issue. But if you want to power headphones and also apply EQ to active speakers, you have to be careful and precise with the volume adjustments. I had a Schiit Fulla 2 that had seperate pre- and line- outputs, but it died recently and has been discontinued. That unit worked ok but wasn't powerful enough to drive planar magnetics annd also really could have used some EQ for my Fidelio X2s. I suppose at this price point, it's hard to complain too much about the Fosi, it's just that there aren't a ton of analog EQ options that work with both headphones and active speakers. Schiit has a couple models but those are designed to work with both a headphone amp and a DAC, in a stacked configuration. Which also means a higher cost.

I have the Micca Origen plus. Would you consider this an upgrade?

@@eman50472 hello there. I would think it’s a slight upgrade but nothing the Fosi can do that the micca can’t. Type C is a plus since you don’t need a dedicated power source, input outputs wise they’re the same. The only thing is the DAC conversion and how it sounds to you. In my opinion, in your case, the SK01 would be great since you can add it on to your micca and have EQ controls. 😄
