To sit and enjoy a Mai Tai and watch whales and the sunset, next to Kapalua Bay is EPIC. It's a wonderful experience. I love the outdoor eating, too, as society used to go inside a four-walled restaurant to eat so so very long ago -- like back in 2019. Can you imagine? Outdoor eating is for me! About 15 - 20 minutes from the Kaanapali Resort Area. Not far, just up Hwy.. 30. It's even better during Whale Season, as you get whales AND a sunset. Great Video! We were there last year watching the Sunset and drinking a MaiTai while eating Sliders and a Caesar Salad. Unbelievable view of the Sunset without it being blocked by Molakai or Lanai. Can't wait to go back there hopefully around September 2021 staying at the Marriott Maui Ocean Club. Also, it is hard to beat The Hula Grill but the Sunset at Merriman's is better because of the direct unobstructed view. See you at The Thirsty Turtle for a Lobster Roll. *ALOHA Polsey74* . Many thanks and good to see you. I hope you get back to Maui iin 2021 and you'll see a really pristine island. Up until just recently, I shot all underwater videos with a Canon camera in a Canon housing. The camera had a mode for "Sunset" which diminished the blue and green, and highlighted the reds and golds. It was perfect, absolute stunning, how the underwater pictures and videos looked. But it was only 640x480, not high definition. I want High Def. But, I'm trying to get back to that! I've been using a Samsung S8+ inside a ShellBox housing. The camera is just not made for underwater, and I'm forcing it to do it. I'm about to give up. I'll go back to my "GoPro" knockoffs, and try them next. But you're right -- a red filter would do wonders. Just not sure there is a filter with the equipment I'm using. I'm not a scuba diver, so I can't invest heavily in equipment for just snorkeling. LOL -- I'm trying to make simple stuff do wonders -- and it's a challenge. Hey -- get over here and you can help me figure all this out. *_Stay safe and healthy and Best Aloha Wishes._*

*ALOHA JO ANNE BUCKNER* . Wowszie! Someone that actually cooks in their condo on Maui? Do you wear bell-botttom pants while cooking? LOL. Ok, Jo Anne, you guys need to get out and experience all of Maui's wonderful places to eat. Not the high-end stuff, unless it's a "special event". Also, do a lot of take-out. I did several videos about getting food at Star Noodle, Roy's in Kaanapali, Teddy's Bigger Burgers, etc. and taking them to a beach park and eating and watching sunset. Going into a four-walled restaurant and sitting in the middle of a bunch of people is what society did so long ago -- like back in 2019. I forgot so badly to say that Merriman's is an iincredible place during Whale Season. So spectacular to see sunsets with whales in the background. But to go and eat a full entree'? A bit expensive. My foot is slowly improving and I've now got "Snorkel Fin Socks" I will show-off in my next beach video. Cheap on Amazon. Amazing job at capturing an amazing sunset! It said it closed at 8pm. Curious about the opening times. Is it closing early because of covid because you'd normally turn up for dinner at about 8.00pm to 9.00pm (unless you have kids or want to catch that sunset!). Though, thinking about it, we did have a problem when we were in California; we went for dinner at 9.00pm and many places said they'd stopped service! Found a "sports bar" serving snacks! In Italy we turned up at 8.30pm for dinner and we were the first there. Everybody turned up (including little children) for dinner at about 10.30pm, just as we were finishing. They couldn't understand why we'd want dinner so early!

In the future, they will go back to longer hours, but we're all just "easing" back into operations and everyone is starting slow. Some are only open Thursday - Sunday. I may do the same with the Thirsty Turtle. Yea, the rest of the world tends to eat a bit later. In Bangkok, places are open until 2am and I have heard Italy, France and Europe all tend to eat a bit late. So different. I think it's called a Kihikihi Moorish Idol Yellow Fish, but there is another one that looks a bit like it called the Peanut (Banner) Butterflyfish. Personally, I use the first name.
