I remember when that movie came out. My mom had just passed away. I was literally consoled by the score. Barbra really deserved every accolade for her work on the film.

I'm so very sorry for your loss of your mother. I can empathize and I hope that there are times when you are comforted in the fact that we were given an angel to bring us into this world... my mother, my sister and I went to every Barbra Streisand movie together...Streisands sound the essence the vibration if you will bound us together... gave us a point of reference, a time we could touch in memory of our love for each other.

You were fantastic in the movie and your directing was superb. I watched the movie about 3 weeks ago, once again for about the 26th time. Never tire of it. Good story line.

Gosh this takes me back to the days when I couldn't get enough of Ms Streisand, she was my idol! Her voice, performances, directing and acting all in the same movie was mind blowing. Followed her for a number of years and she's still going strong. An amazing woman! ♫

I loved Yentel. My Dad past away in February and that movie came to Blackfoot in March and a freind took me to it. When she sang out in the grove of trees that night in the movie, I feel totally apart I cried a bucket of tears listening to her sing Father Can You Hear Me. In the movie she had lost her Father

Back in the 80's, I wasn't in the habit of going to the cinema on my own.......but, after seeing Yentl twice with my Sister and then with a friend, I went again alone. That's how much I loved it and still do. There is nothing else like it.

I am a 51 y/o trans woman and you were my first idol. I mimicked your voice, I thought to a "T" when I was young and I too liked the way he made me feel when I watched this movie ... and Ryan O"Neal didn't bother me either, ok. Prince of Tides touched me also because I was molested from 4-12 and I felt for the Nick Nolte's character, even though I was in the habit of disassociating and shoving my feelings away because it was unbearable. I was living two lives in one body and I was never seen for who I really was. I identified with this movie very much. I have recently found information that I have Germanic Ashkenazic Jew in my ancestry, which was a surprise ... so, that makes it even moreso. I was hoping you could ask the Rothschilds to stop hiding their dna matches to me on Ancestry (haha). You have been my longest lifelong icon to adore. I just wanted to say thanks for getting into the biz. You provided things to me and I appreciate you for them. I love you, Barbra. P.S. My name is Michelle and I have been giving it to the Republican party for some time now.

Yentl was a very fine movie. But Barbra had burned a lot of bridges in Hollywood, and they lost no opportunity to let her forget it. That’s why this award was so unexpected, and Streisand herself could barely believe it. It’s a shame she hasn’t made more quality films, rather than the Fokkers and other nonsense.
