Thanks for another great video! I own the Phoibos PY007B and have for close to a year. I got mine for $227 (as they often have them on sale) and I love it. Like you, I am not a huge diver fan so didn't want to spend a lot of money on one but wanted one for the collection. I am very happy I chose the PY007B. The Miyota 9015 movement is awesome, a big step up from the NH35 movement that many micro brands use. With a sapphire crystal and ceramic bezel all for well under $300, in my opinion you can't beat it.

The Duro is a great beater watch. I'm actually wearing mine right now. It is usually the piece I wear at the pool or at the beach, so I don't have to worry about knocking it around. I also have it on at the shop. Again, I don't have to worry about knocking it around or splash damage from some of the cleaners I use.

Hi Teddy, I was considering a diver watch for our son who just graduated from high school - hollah! and is heading to Florida with his Aunt for a celebratory dive trip. Was supposed to be Belize but his passport is hung up at the State Dept. and no flights available due to the pandemic so keeping it state-side. Your video was SO helpful! Now, I'm excited about a diver watch for his gift and will be choosing one of these. Thank you!

Great video, Teddy! Just one note about the Citizen. The first picture you showed is the NY0040-09EE, it is an automatic piece with 40mm and day-date function, which is a great diver option too. The NY0040 was used for the Marina Militare, the Italian Navy, for more than 10 years and it was pressure tested to 500 meters!! I own the eco-drive BN0151-09L and it is simply amazing!

Phelipe F. You're absolutely right! Just bought my self one ✌ & still thinking about the number (40) ny0040 ,if it's about the case size, I've measured it is 41 & a half millimeter & if it's about the power reserve mine just got an extra 5 hour......
@joecarrano7956 жыл бұрын
You just bought a NY0040? Please tell me where. The only one I have found is a shop in Italy and with the exchange and shipping it's pricier than I budgeted for. If that's my only option I'll go for it but if you know a better, more local source it would make my day. One more question. I see a lot of conflicting info on Citizen case sizes. Can anyone tell me the actual diameter (no crown) of the BN0150?

Have you looked at Deep Blue... Master 1000 specifically. Has a depth rating for 1,000m, sapphire crystal with AR coating, helium release valve, a killer bezel, a multitude of color combinations, uses a Seiko NH35 movement that hacks and hand winds and has really good lume... can be had within your budget. I think you should check them out.

Sea-gull Ocean Star £260 on Aliexpress. It never ceases to amaze me. 44mm Sapphire 28800bph 2824-2 movement. Easy to use crown. Now available with ceramic bezel and super lume. Didn't think it would be on this channel. The only Sea-gull that's been accepted is the 1963 column wheel chronograph. I have it as my dress watch. 38mm with Sapphire on a Rios brown leather strap. The Ocean Star has great wrist presence. My two watches at under £600. Well that's my two penneth of input.

I own several Vostok watches, they are fantastic, you can unscrew the case back and easily regulate them yourself, I've got all mine perfectly running at +/- 4 sec per day.
@TeddyBaldassarre6 жыл бұрын
Wow, that is wild for a watch well under $100.
@excelsiortrading80506 жыл бұрын
Teddy Baldassarre, well that's really what Vostok is about, they give you a fantastic tool at a lower price, the 4 key ways they bring it to you at such an affordable price is 1, no advertising, 2, crap packaging "it's throw away who cares", 3 crap strap or bracelet "they know you'll throw it on whatever you love anyways" and 4 they don't pay somebody to sit there and regulate it for you. But the movement once you pop the back is very excellent for the money and the fact that you can finely regulate it yourself attests to it being a fantastic movement. Every watch aficionado should have at least one Vostok to play with imo.

I've always been interested in divers because they have a bold look, and more importantly they typically are very legible. And maybe I will wear it while I'm washing my car. More recently I've decided that I don't dive so I don't need the dive bezel and I've discovered field watches and fliegers. Without the bezel the dial can be much larger and easier to see, but there is still much more selection in dive watches. I prefer a big watch to be on a bracelet although I'm starting to liek NATO straps too, and dive watches are more likely to be available on a bracelet than fliegers and somewhat more likely than field watches. I have a good number of dive watches in my collection although I could always add another, but I'm also looking at any new flieger or field watch design that I see.

Hi Teddy, If I were to buy one of these watches, I think it would be the Orient Mako. It is a watch that could be worn in several different situations. I also like the Citizen Promaster. I have 17.3cm wrists and I wear the SRP777K as my daily beater watch. The case shape is quite slender and it doesn't wear like a large watch (it has quiet the small lug to lug length). Anyone who is intimidated by the paper spec of the SRP7XX should really try one in person before striking it off the purchase list. Note that the "K" at the end of the model refers to the Seiko watches cased in Korea or Singapore while the ones with "J" is completely made in Japan and can run you few dollars more than the "K" models even if both models are really the same except for the small print on the dials that say "made in Japan" for "J" model watches.

I am in the market looking for a reasonably priced diver watch. And it comes down to Seiko solar SNE439 P1 vs the legendary Seiko SKX 009. In the end I chose the solar watch. It feels modern and reliable, whereas the SKX 009 feels old (venerable if you like). Both are very good. But it feels like pitting the Land Rover Defender against the latest Toyota Land Cruiser. And I chose the Land Cruiser. No regrets

Loved the video! I am actually looking for a diver watch for an everyday/travel watch. I want a robust watch that also looks pretty good and a GMT function would be great, but overall I am looking for an affordable, robust travel. Also prefer automatic over quartz because changing a battery can be a problem. Having a good water resistance I feel is key in traveling because you want to keep it with you at the pool or jump into the ocean when at the beach you never know what may come up and leaving your watch behind would be silly. Also when traveling I don't want to take it off when I go to sleep or take a shower because I might loose it. I thought Deep blue has some good watches in this range.

Great video as always! Have you thought of doing a list of 'all-around' watches? Would love to see something like that!

The Wenger Seaforce should also be on your list. Stunning, well built Swiss Diver that is good value for money.

Spinnaker Bradner is preferable to the Dan Henry 1970. Same movement but with Sapphire crystal and better fit and finish. And they have 30% discount to make it even cheaper than the 1970. BTW, I agree that the Orient Mako is my personal favorite.
