I got saved and sanctified in Detroit in an old store front holiness Church. They sang these old time songs. That was back in 1968 when Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. died that summer. I'm 73 now and will never forget it. God is sure good enough.

Who is Dr Watts please
@stevenrhoover Жыл бұрын
@@orlandosumlin Dr. Watts refers to Isaac Watts, the famous hymn writer. During the time of slavery, his hymn lyrics were deeply loved by those bound by slavery, and since most of the slaves were illiterate, they would sing the hymns in this style (called a "lined hymn") so that the congregation could hear the melody and then sing it for themselves. Out of love for Isaac Watts, these hymns are referred to as "Dr. Watts Hymns."

I'm 15 and a couple months ago the deacon at my church that sung this died. he was like 92 I think, and every communion he would sing this. and even though we laughed about the moaning and not knowing the words, I've always loved this song. but just recently I learned what this song was "called" and it is just amazing
