I know this is an old post but this is what my GOLFTEC instructor had me working on. Suffice to say I struggled mightily trying to get to the 30 deg one out of ten swings. For me the key is your backswing and lower body. I found I struggled getting my hips open and forward enough at impact, no matter how hard I tried. I finally started working with a biomechanics therapist for golf to target areas of my body that needed to be released. Big surprise my hip mobility was extremely limited especially the left side. Through a proper exercise program I have now released a lot of these restrictions. I can now move my body dynamically to perform these type of drills. If anyone out there struggles with a movement your swing instructor is trying to get you to do; look into your body’s mobility for most of the answers.

This guy just GETS BETTER with every view... I was a doubters at 1st, shame on me 😪😪. It was the tucking of the hips that flummoxed me. Now I dont spin out & try to find it with hand eye coordination That's finished/gone for good.Its just pure logistical sense really.

Truth is, it's harder to do @64 than I thought...but that's where mobility training is in order. This swing is much easier to hit better strikes, even with limited mobility. Great channel.....

Simple explantation for many older guys. Good shoulder tilt along with proper hip rotation is really hard on the back. It’s no secret why older players who develop back trouble see their golf scores go south.

My Golftec lesson recently was on moving my low point of my swing forward. The shoulder tilt will def help. Maintaining wrist cock was something my instructor focused on as well.

Great presentation. Moe Norman said when asked what swing thought was important to him. He replied the “ vertical drop” of the back shoulder. Seems pretty conclusive that you’re on the same page .

Hi Nick, great video, and this helps me reconfirm my issue with hitting shots too low and not holding the green, and having a fade rather than a tight draw with S&T. I will work on this using this drill. Thanks

Have not focused on this before but seems to be an excellent idea. Also since the concept/feeling, in my head at least, ties in nicely with a proper hip slide, and maintenance of posture both before and after the hit. From my old conventional un-taught days I struggle with a tendency to spin out very early up on the back foot toes and early extension. And asYou say, it does generally seem to be a relatively seldom talked about key part of the swing. Will drill in to it in the coming months! You did it again! 👍👍 Grateful as ever. /Martin

Great drill. This, together with “arms straight” is superb. I’ve drifted into moving my head forward and folding my arms through impact due to being too focused on driving my right shoulder “around” to a full finish
@NickTaylorGolf

Yes Martin I see that a lot and it causes the golfer to deliver the club steep and from the outside especially with the driver

Great video Nick, what should I focus on in the downswing to keep my shoulder tilt in tact? ie: hips forward, or shoulders tilted down, etc.. thanks!

Congratulations, Nick, great video! I never saw a similar presentation on this topic before! However, I have a question: assume my head remains on its place and I swing with a specific shoulder tilt; if I want to increase the shoulder tilt, what must be changed? (E.g., less bending of the knees or more forward shaft leen?)
@NickTaylorGolf
@NickTaylorGolf 4 жыл бұрын
Thanks Bernhard, more hip slide and shaft lean would help

It looks to me that what is tilting is not the shoulder. so much as it is the spine is tilting due to the hips moving toward the target in the downwsing

I like the drill but wouldn't advise anyone jutting their hips forward the way he does in this video. Bad habits like that can quickly get built into your swing and cause you to get stuck when rotating through the ball.
