Hi everyone, Which part of this video was most useful?
@dookiehowser116211 ай бұрын
The part about really concentrating on the upper and lower body moves feeling separate of each other. The upper stays back, (behind the ball) as the lower moves ahead and to the left. I've seen it before but you illustrated how it really is a 2 direction swing in a sense. Nice work.

This is one of best tutorials I’ve seen over my 40 years of playing and trying to help others. What I concluded helping noobs is none of them had any idea where their body, hands and club head needed to be at the instant the ball flies off the face to target. When I started statically posing them as you do at the start and drill three they intellectually understood the goal and how their bodies needed to move to from the top to get there. One of the critical missing links in a noob’s swing is usually a lack of side bend which putting them into the “pro” impact position introduces them to. Your “chopstick” drill is a brilliant way to practice and provide feedback because if the sticks don’t click you aren’t side bending enough.

Excellent job as always Giles! As an experienced golfer, I am always concerned about my rotation or lack of! I think most of my challenges are I limit the amount of my backswing to about 2/3 and thus my rotation suffers. When I take my backswing out to 3/4, the rotation improves as well. I especially liked the recommended pre-set drill! Well Done Giles!

Excellent video Coach. What is the key to any organization...I ask the student. It's a rhetorical question...the answer is, the key to any organization is its organization. The video is extremely well organized. The explanation is clear and to the point. The drills seem to be very applicable. An extremely important and not such an easy aspect to explain...the rotation in the backswing.
@Gilesgillgolf11 ай бұрын
Thank you! Glad it came across organised. It followed on nicely from a backswing rotation video I did earlier

Great video Giles! I have been following other famous youtubers for a while and the information you provide and the way you explain it is just top notch. I have been working on this things for a while and it has really improved my iron game however I am struggling with driver as I am not able to bring forward low point and therefore get a positive AoA. Any tip? Thanks

I like the chopsticks drill- will try it out. I did adjust my grip moving the grip more to the base of the fingers- ball does not drift to the right now. Need to work on my hip rotation now to maximize the strike. Getting there- long journey.
@Gilesgillgolf11 ай бұрын
It’s always a journey but sounds like you’re making great progress

I think finding your own personal rotation position was key. I’ve had lessons where the coach would push and prod me into a contortion and it’s just not useful as I’m not ever going to get into that in the course of my swing. Also the info on the common cheats in a drill… bc I know I’m going to def fall into that if I try it! Your body is preprogrammed to cheat.
@Gilesgillgolf11 ай бұрын
Exactly that! Got to make sure your swing is built for you
@JimHunter-u8h7 ай бұрын
Excellent video, especially the timing of the hip rotation vs upper body. My only question is it looks like you lock out your right leg, especially in slow motion rehearsal swings. Can that cause too much hip rotation? I don't see Adam Scott or other classic swings straightening their leg so much? Is it an exaggeration move?
@Gilesgillgolf7 ай бұрын
I don’t lock it out it’s just when I’m talking I’m focused more on what I’m saying than my right leg. Look at my actual swing and you’ll see it has flex

I’ve just got back from the range after doing the preset drill and in every video I stand up / early extend. Is there anywhere I can DM you a video so you can have a quick look? I’ve been trying to fix this for awhile now but not really finding out the root cause

Wouldn't the transition just be easier if you stayed on your lead leg the entire time?

That’s classed as stack and tilt. Unfortunately no matter what method you do there always has to be a form of shifting
