@sparraps347615 күн бұрын
You're right and the overall wheel diameter between a 120/80 R18 and a 120/90 R18 is about 3-1/2% larger. Not 10-1/2% larger if we were basing out gearing based strictly on sidewall, not overall diameter. This will effect acceleration, but in my opinion for the average rider, this wouldn't be very noticeable.

Yours are specific, well organized, edited, well informed and too the point. I'm coming from a KLR650 where many just change the front sproket, but I really like your rationale on changing the rear. Also, your mod recommendations are against the norm. So many say add all of theses accessories before improving performance. I'm with ya. Improve performance, then improve protection. Love it. *12mm difference between a 120/80 and 120/90. Like you stated, it's an aspect ratio so 120*.8=96mm tall and 120*.9=108mm tall. Not that 2mm really matters. especially on taller tread tires that wear down more than that over the course of their lifespan. Also, HD tubes are usually unnecessary unless you're airing down under 10psi and they add significant weight which is more noticeable on lower powered bikes.

A really descent all-round tire for this bike is the Kenda K270. It comes in stock sizes for the 300L and is extremely well-priced. The tread pattern is very trials tire like. They track pretty good in gravel and are great on rocky climbs and quite nice on pavement. Also, the speed ratings are appropriate for the bike. A similar tire tread to this is the Shinko 244, but the front size has a speed rating way below the top speed of the bike.

I see sooooo many Bro's get these lower powered 250/300's and put 120 or 110 D606 on them, that tire is a tank for weight. You are adding 3lbs to your crank, that saps a lot of power. My KLX250 I shaved 2-3lbs off the rear wheel with an aluminum sprocket and MX chain. I could tell instantly that motor had more grunt and revved a lot quicker. I usually run the Kenda Trakmaster 100-100-18. It is smaller, but the side lugs dig in offroad and its cheap + lightweight, handles everything very well.

There are so many choices... I only have 300 miles on my Rally, but I’m shopping for better traction. Doing a little bit of research long before I got my new bike, I changed my mind about which tires to choose at least three times. Initially I thought that I wanted the D606/MT21 combo, which still seems like a good choice. but then I discovered the Michelin Trackrs... Solid tires, wouldn’t be mismatching, the guys over on dual sport adventures have been running them for a couple of years now and they absolutely love them, and they just looked like the perfect tire imo... Then I discovered the DSports. They cost almost half as much as the Michelin’s, and there are so many good reviews on reputable KZbin channels, and it’s extremely difficult to find anyone that has any complaints about them. At this point, I feel like the Dsports with some heavy duty tubes should suit me fine... I’m preparing for the TAT, and will most likely leave my gearing stock before my first trip. I plan on breaking the TAT up into 3 or 4 different trips, so things just might change before it is over with... Any suggestions/advice would be greatly appreciated...

@@MotorcyclesOffroad those reusable filters make me cringe. Watch out for moisture. I killed a Honda 400ex atv in just a couple hours down by the lake on muddy wet trails when I was younger. The water splashing in here and there let all ( and I mean all)the silt come in and when I pulled the filter( after the guys behind me started to complain about the smoke trail I was leaving). The throat to the carb literally had a paste of grinding compound laying in the bottom. The K&N still looked pink and sticky,but had to have a new piston and jug. My local shop owner of 40+ years said he is having a hard time finding the stock filters for the 300's. He is selling all his DNA filters and not restocking. He wouldn't say why,hummm???? Excellent information. very well provided. I have the 2021 CRF 300 Rally . and found a supplier for the rear tire Dunlop 606. However for the front tire on eBay, they are asking me for more details as; MC?, MX? and even if 21F? so confusing for me to decide. Can you be so kind as to advise what front tire should I choose for a minimum 50%- 50% on-road and off-road Bike in the front Tire with a Dunlop 606 rear tire? Thanks

Tp ho with the D606, ok. Fronts tend to last a but longer. I would look into michelin Anakee wild for true 50/50 or a pirelli MT21 for more.font end grab offroad with a sacrifice to some offroad.

Mate I totally agree ☝️, with your type choice, that’s my choice fir 2 off my bikes , one has a 140 rear ( and 606 only goes up to a 130 ) so I cannot recommend enough 2 different rears 1. Motoz Rallz or Golden tyre GT 723 ( both great 50/50 Rears .

You can turn any non-DOT tire into a DOT tire with a sharp razor blade.

Just sayin... Michelin anakee wilds. Expensive especially state side. Not bad off road not aggressive but brilliant on road... Will last 4500 miles.... I don't do that much off... road. Sad☹️

Cool, I will have to give them a try on one of the bikes.
