The best way to get one of these Dysons is to pick one up off the curb in an affluent neighborhood. All Dysons require regular cleaning and maintenance. Disassembly and blowing out all the fine dust at least once every few months contributes greatly to keeping their amazing suction power at its peak . Most people who buy them do not clean them out even once. They change the filter (yeah FILTER, half the time they don't remember there's on in the ball too) and in three years the vacuum is getting to hot and the suction is poor and they dump it and buy a new one. Both my Dyson handheld and floor model came from the dump and goodwill respectively. A total tear down and clean out and replacing the filters netted me two vacuums that work as good as new for about $50 combined.

Affluent neighbor here that threw mine out after acquiring it secondhand. I knew about all the filters. The smell of wet dog would not leave the unit so every time I used it, the stank would fill the room. I gave the vacuum to a dog owner…

@@tgo007 yeah real confused how this guy can shill for these mega marketing made in china vacuums so hard. These vacuums are fine the first month or two, then they fall apart, start smelling, clog. My Bissel SpotClean Pro fell apart it’s 2nd use. My Dyson vacuum made it about a month before I had to tear it down to try to get the stink out. Cleaned everything out, used enzymic fluid to rinse, set outside to dry for 2-3 days while torn down, put it together and it still smelled like wet dog and arse. And then it clogged the next clean! Lmao I don’t know if this guy tests these things hard enough and long enough, so while, yeah, most vacuums will be fine out of the box, but how will do they be in 3-6 months.

I think something else to add about the hose- their design is great being routed out of the bottom of the unit! I don’t have a unit myself, but used my friends animal 2, and it’s so nice to be able to use the attachments without tipping! Almost all new vacuums have the hose midway up on the back, and using the attachments becomes a two hand job

Love my Animal 2 though my biggest pet peeve is that Dyson didn't put much thought into cleaning of the vacuum. After a couple months of use I happened to be taking the cyclone portion of the canister off and placed it on the floor... a bunch of massive clumps of dust dropped out. I took it outside and started banging on it with a rubber mallet and my goodness the amount of dust clumps was pathetic. And there is no way to really take the cyclone portion apart without special tools (which I eventually bought) and being super careful not to snap/break anything once the screws are out and parts need prying apart. They should have made it MUCH MUCH easier to be disassembled for cleaning purposes. The cyclone portion with the static charge that builds up with usage... coats the internals and begins thickening the dust clumps really fast. If they made that cyclone piece easier to take apart to clean properly without banging with an object or against a wall and then using an electric dust blower to do the best cleaning job... the vacuum would be 10 out 10 in my book. Currently I give it a 7 just because they failed with the cleaning aspect.

I use the animal 2 for my cleaning business and I have the multi floor 2 for my home. I love both of them and the suction really rivals any of the other vacuums on the market. The turbine tool that comes with the animal 2 is amazing for pet hair on furniture. I also like the extra long hose for stairs and pull the wand out frequently to vacuum up debris from corners or ceiling cobwebs.

I bought my Mom the original DC07 Yellow upright ruffly 20 years ago through my discount at Linens N Things. To this day it still runs, only needing a brush replacement once. Pretty impressive. I am not currently researching which new Dyson to get her, as even though her's is still running, it is time to upgrade for her. You confirmed my conclusions. Thanks for the vid!

It's quite interesting how the US Dyson product line varies from the ones sold in the UK. Here in the UK, all uprights have a completely upgraded floorhead design, very similar to the one present on the latest cordless stick vacuums (internal brush-bar motor + adjustable air vents) , as well as reduced power consumption and noise levels in order to adhere to EU regulations. They are much better products in my opionion.
@Blackout7203 жыл бұрын
I wouldn't say they're much better. Hose suction is very poor. Stair tool hardly picks up any pet hair and tangle free turbine noticebly spins slower as you stretch the hose. Tool holder has been redesigned for worse.

Professional housecleaner here. Own all 3. I agree. Yellow multi floor won. It is lighter then fuchsia. Cheaper then purple animal. I don’t recommend to pay more for animal version. Yellow or fuchsia will clean your carpet from pet hair just as good as animal. The only attachment you really need is multi brush (crevice/brush). It is gold. Better then any other brand brush. It will let you do dusting everywhere without buying swiffer dusters. I love it with passion. Dysons hose/attachment system is 10000 times better then Shark.

Their Dyson may need a tear down and clean out and perhaps a new ball filter. The second the ball filter begins to wear out it lets air in around it and you get some pretty horrific noise leaks. Let it go long enough and you get whistling that'll break windows lol

I have the purple animal too Dyson. I have had it for 4 years and it would still be running absolutely flawlessly if it wasn't for my ex destroying it and literally sucking up anything, and I mean literally anything that was on the floor. To this day the Dyson has a very small crack or should I say split in the flexible hose running from the head of the unit to the waistbasket which is located at the elbow it makes when it's sitting straight up. However it's still beats the carpet good enough and sucks good enough to not get rid of it, but I am hands down going to buy another one as soon as I get tired of the one I have. So far it's the best vacuum I have used other than the Cadillac Kirby of which is self-propelled. But we're talking about another $1,000. I also have many pets in the house. Currently at one dog and three cats, all of which shed plenty. I have suddenly focused my energy into the robot vacuums and Roomba is the one I currently have, 694 to be exact. It does a great job having a bristle brush and a silicone brush, I would keep it and love it if it only had individual room programming. It does absolutely flawlessly on carpets and does a good 90% on hard floors which is 90% of my house. My cat room is all carpet and even the Roomba does a fantastic job of cleaning up the litter crumbles but at the end of the day the purple Dyson vacuum, I would absolutely buy it again hands down.

I've had the Animal2 for about 17 years and its still running, but starting to need some maintenance, so I purchased the Origin and, like your video points out, I can't use it on my deep pile rugs/carpets - it either bogs down or sucks up the rug and stops the vacuum which is most annoying. The hose isn't as long on the Origin which is an issue for me. And the attachments for the Origin are not as user friendly as my Animal2 is/was. So - I'm letting my daughter in law take the Origin and I've just purchased another Animal2. If I get another 17 years out of it this should be my last vacuum to purchase. :-) Your video is very helpful for those who are looking to buy their first Dyson and also confirms what I've also found to be true. Yes, they are expensive but your truly get what you pay for. I have a Siberian Husky and before buying a Dyson Animal, I was having to vacuum about 3x per week. With Dyson, I can go 1x per week. That time savings alone makes it worth the price for me. Thanks!

@@DillonCleans some of them have some amazing engineering but you're right, most Bissell things feel like they're built to a price point. I don't have a lot of experience in Appliance customer service but what dealings I've had with Bissell were excellent. That chinese-built Air Ram stuff from Gtech that Bissell licensed is all pretty lightweight and although ingenious, very cheaply built. My grandma is very nice to her stuff, she keeps floor sweepers forever a meticulously clean something so no hair or anything gets wrapped around the end of brush rolls and also refuses to ever get anything with a bag, she wants a filter she can clean out herself and not waste money haha. I got her the Bissell air ram and the Dustbin broke and this replaced it for free because it happened within 2 years but now that it's out of warranty, as little as she has used it being handicapped, the brand-new looking footswitch field inside. It's very if you whether or not it's going to turn itself on or off when you click it. Sad that had contact failure and it's actually a very capable vacuum although the filter isn't very good. At the time it was the only option for someone who couldn't have any weight on their hand and needed a lot of maneuverability and good pickup without having to bend down and plug a cord in. She can basically sit in a chair and vacuum up the flour or rice she spilled on the floor in the kitchen on her own ( vehemently independent but severely limited Mobility)

In the past you have critiziced (and even showed in a video through you're fog test) that despite its claims, it is not a true sealed system. You have a video on this channel of fog going right out the ball, and there are multiple comments on that video confirming that has been others experience. Seeing you consider this such a critical components of a vacuums, i'd like to hear your reasoning you seem to have forgone mentioning this all together, since it was one of your biggest crituques of it before.

Have you ever considered doing other Mainstream Boutique vacuums like a Rainbow? It's got a final HEPA filter but that water filtration seems to work pretty well. My parents have one but they are getting up in years and I'm trying to find something more convenient for them to use on The Daily. I got them a shark ion multiflex a couple years ago but the hair wrap is ridiculous (you can't take the brush roll out to clean it, only the fluffy roller 😡) and it's really a lot of weight in the hand for Mom to handle for more than just a spot pickup... replaced hip, fused back, bad primary wrist 😅. She has stumbled and dropped it and the concern is she will break it or drop it on her foot. I got my grandma the Bissell air ram for similar reasons but it's a very budget design for a whole lot of money and poor filtration.

Hi Chis great video. In my opinion Sharks are good vacuums but they have one REALLY BIG design flaw: their cyclones. They are poorly designed and the filters clog up quickly even though they market them as 'no loss of suction'. You have to believe in what you buy so just get a Dyson. They lack features but they give you good performance and they give you their legendary root cyclone 🌀 so the filters won't clog. They will last decades if you care for them so don't make a purchase mistake and just get a Dyson no matter what Shark says. Keep up the good work buddy.😃😃

Might be time to shake up your sand in carpet test? Seems as though it's almost too easy. Other channel testing of Miele's make the Dysons look inadequate and having the adjustable motor means no bog on dense or long carpets.

Well again your reviews are outstanding, even though I just in general feel like buying a Dyson is prestige instead of superior now. Most vacuum makers have competed well with these guys and it seems like a waste of money to buy a name brand. I've went over carpet vacuumed by Dyson with a Shark and gotten more debris...and vise versa... there's no such thing as a completely debris free carpet, even brand new. Using one's head is key to all purchases these days. Why buy an Apple when a Lesser brand PC can do the same?? It's all in the way people perceive value. In most cases you get what you pay for, so a $150.00 vacuum is likely only going to be average and lose things like innovative gadgets and less techno bling, possibly some filtration loss... so that being said pretty much any vacuum over $350.00 is going to get the job done and well. Vacuums have come a long way since Dysons first revolutionary release... smart money is on a different brand with as good a clean as a Dyson. It makes me frustrated that people are so swayed by gizmos like the lazor thing that "shows dirt" and LED touch controls etc... they don't add value to the vacuum, and don't really add cleaning power... it's all about illusion. Thanks again for your excellent work on vacuum reviews. I hope people can see through the gimmick ridden hype of Dyson, they are a good vacuum but bang for buck if one is smart they don't purchase names but function. Smiles and blessing...

Buying Dyson is rewarding the innovators, and buying others is supporting their copying. Shark even had to pay Dyson millions in a lawsuit because they were lying. I can’t support that.
@hisimagenme3 жыл бұрын
@@jocodashcam295 That's a lie...Shark invented the double brush roll head, others invent other things...Samsung invented the new motors... you're a fool if you think Dyson does anything different than they did the first time. I hate their balls, weight and they suck too much and ruin rugs. There pluses and minuses in everything, you have just bought into the Dyson fan club crap. Hope it pays for you. I'm not against Dyson, I was the first house cleaner to bring it to bear in the market in Colorado... don't try to teach me, I know my vacuums and the advertising hype and gimmick ridden nonsense that goes with them. They ALL do it, not one exception. Either you consume or purchase... there's a difference.
@jocodashcam2953 жыл бұрын
@@hisimagenme shark “invented” the double roll head after Dyson came out with the fluffy roller. The Shark double heads is really good at pushing fine debris into the hr carpet before the vacuum tries to suck it up. Shark is just a market follower.

I don't understand why dyson hasn't made their U.S. uprights the same as in the UK. It would make sense to cause it's more efficient right?
@BeastMortThe2 жыл бұрын
I don't recall what it was exactly... but I know something annoyed me about the U.S. version compared to the UK one that I saw online and do recall complaining to Dyson and asking them why couldn't they do the same thing as the UK variant. Looking up the UK version I believe one of my complaints was the US version doesn't have the Articulated handle which seems like a nice feature. And a side note... Dyson kind of sucks in a way because they stopped making corded vacs. Sure they're still making their main models of the corded, but we'll never get an updated variant of the corded as the years pass. Which I assume eventually they'll be behind other manufacturers. And I personally will never by cordless.

At about $400, that’s not “crazy” expensive. That’s pretty typical of high end vacuums. They are not $1200 like a MLM Kirby or Rainbow (no thanks to either of those).

@@CShannon1991 I’d say, the Dysons are upper middle. The Multi-Floor 2 is $349. Even cheaper on sale, or reconditioned (~$200). For a vaccine with a sealed system and hepa filtration. It really is decent value for what you get.

So it sounds like these completely destroy cordless vacuums
@BeastMortThe2 жыл бұрын
The exact reason I would never buy cordless. If I had some money to burn and an uncarpeted apartment... I may consider a cordless but outside of that I find them useless. Small canisters that need constant dumping and then worrying about the battery going dead mid cleaning. BLEH! Though I guess one GOOD thing about cordless vacs... if the power goes out and your bored with no TV to watch... you could fire it up and keep busy. LMAO!
