Not a bold statement for Yamaha to make on their syncdrive motors. They’re truly unrivalled when it comes to a perfect pedal assist motor. That’s my view, but theirs a good reason giant owns 10% of the worlds bike market and makes the best affordable bikes available with top of the line parts.

I have the 2022 fast road E+ ex, best motor I’ve ever ridden. The syncdrive is pure magic and just chews up hills. Starting from a dead stop on a really steep hill, no problem, the syncdrives 80nm output and nearly 400% assistance rockets you up no problem.

Giant's/yamaha's motors are on point

Personally I feel the syncdrive is unrivalled, there’s no motor that compares to the perfect assistance and cadence matchup that the syncdrive has. And it gets up to 32km/hr quickly with just the right amount of acceleration, or 45km/hr for those lucky enough to live somewhere that didn’t restrict the motors.

​@@mattslip179I love my giant fathom hardtail with the yamaha syncdrive motor but I had to have the motor replaced after only 650mls due to water ingress to the bearings, giant replaced the motor foc even though it was just out of warranty.

@@FPVslayer I also have a 2020 Trance E+0, battery after 3 years as new. I dropped the support in ECO mode to 50%, and on my last ride I covered 62 km with 1215 m vertical using only 40% of the battery.

Just got back into mtb and just got the giant fathom e. Basically the hardtail version but it’s just so much fun to ride!

We have one of those along with our Turbo Levo Comp Alloy, and a Bluto forked Motobecane fatbike with a BBSHD. The Stance E is definitely in the running for being the best. It's not quite as good as the Levo, but honestly in most cases there is no actual difference, and at half the money, it's a winner!

I bought the Fathom 2E+ but the hubs failed and the plastic protector on the motor keeps coming loose… it’s the same motor etc… build quality isn’t very good at all… it’s only done 70 miles and it’s falling to bits so I’d be careful with it.

I have to disagree I tested a specialized turbo levo carbon and I preferred the giant stance e. The geometry in that bike was fantastic

I rode the bike and yes it feels flawlessly smooth but also brutally underpowered for the price. I was a bit let down for speed because it is a important spec on bikes this expensive
