It’s about time someone talks about this issue.. I’d like to hear options or a serious conversation about traveling with my EMTB. Is a series in the works that discusses camping with your EMTB?

Fazua sell a charger you plug into you car cigarette socket. I also use a Goal Zero 500kwh pack, charged from the car or solar panels. You can plug into a mains charger to it, to charge your bike. If at a campsite I use a waterproof extension wire and socket to plug into chargers. 8 weeks off grid this year no problems.

I think we should follow the US and bump it up to 28mph. All these 🐈 on here saying we shouldn’t go above 15mph. Please, an analog bike goes faster. As for warranties, it funny how other countries are covered. If the uk put the limit up, these warranties would suddenly cover up to that limit. 15mph….. what a joke.

Worth mentioning that you really need a Pure sine wave inverter not a cheaper modified version.

I’ve wondered about portable power stations if your riding somewhere like Fod and get down to 50% on your battery, something to charge my trek exe while I’m stuffing my face in the cafe 😂
@WilliamKennedy-g5k16 сағат бұрын
That's what I use and I have an inverter that plugs into a 12 volt socket in the vehicle to charge up while driving.
@JubeProductions13 сағат бұрын
When I first got my EMTB I looked into getting a portable charger for my vehicle so maybe I could do a ride, take a lunch break and charge up, then go back out with a full battery. It just got too confusing and too complicated for my taste, to figure out a simple plug and play solution. It seems easier and cheaper to buy a second battery to bring with me.

I used to buy sell restore minis back in the late ‘80’s, you could pick them up (nice pun if I do say so myself 😁) for £50 without an mot. Good luck finding one for under £15k now!

What is with people that don’t / won’t use a rear fender / mudguard ? Because they look silly ? Same reason some don’t like helmets. I always thought people without helmets looked silly. Even if you are wearing waterproof clothing you still get the feeling of a wet backside. Some rear fenders don’t look so bad with a little Customization. I cut down an SKS to look alright with a 2.8X 24”wheel.

I bought a Giant Trance back in 2020! It was a fantastic bike and had the Yamaha motor! Great motor until it rained and then I’d have issues! Looms were changed, diagnostics run but eventually after a 6 month period Giant took the bike back! I love Giants and the Yamaha motor but have run a Merida E160 8000 now for last 4 years and almost 10,000kms on two motors! Great bike but I’d love to have a Giant/Yamaha motor again!

It’s unfortunate that you’ve built such a compact motor, and then have this massive clunky battery. As bikes like the amflow and canyon OnFly are making sleeker more traditional mtn bike looking frames, this is impossible because your battery is so massive. You need a long skinny battery option.

Love these comments which show the general consensus for deristriction But are you getting confused with how the derestrict works. My bike has an electronic derestict and you can choose what speed you would like the motor to cut out. That's just top speed, not power. My bike in legal condition has 250w but when the wire is pulled, it becomes 750w, at any speed depending on the setting. For me, with limited mobility, its a game changer having the extra power. There are times when speed and power can be more dangerous but do we restrict cars or motorbikes, except for learners?

With the greatest respect to Giant (fyi: I own a 2029 Giant Fathom E+3) charging nigh £6k for a hard tail fat bike in this economic climate is madness. They must be out of their bloody minds.
