I am 60 years this year and the only interesting of SL Mtb's😂. Have one 35Nm, one 50Nm and one 60Nm and I love them all😍. I don't think there is any possible to build lighter Emtb's than this😉

Even if you're very fit and healthy, an EMTB is soo much more fun than any ride on a regular mountain bike. You can still get a great workout, but you get to the top a whole lot quicker.

I love this couple's comments. i am so on the same page about age and health being just one piece of the puzzle and not being the excuse to have a EMTB. There's nothing quite like the feeling of controlling your effort level while maintaining a high level of fitness regardless, on an eMTB (I know from experience as a fitness trainer). Plus, it's great to have that flow safely on flats, climbs and descents. I'm 54 years old, I've got my eMTB now because the technology wasn't there when i was 22.

You ride them because they are easier. It's just fact. It may be because of physical injury, cardio or just wanting not to put as much effort in. You are lying to yourself otherwise. I am 52 and obviously still on analogue. I know there is a blue pill that can help me at home ride longer, more often and probably be a bit better at it, but I am not going to use it until I need to. There is no doubt a certain feeling of pride a man gets from doing it under his own steam. Everyone can do whatever the hell they want, but let's stop pretending it's for any other reason than its easier.

Too many people think eMTBs are a solution to a problem like age or injury. Sure they can be but they’re so much more than that. They’re simply great fun and you cover so much more ground. I have a Bronson and a Heckler and I use them primarily for bike parks; I find my Heckler does everything my Bronson does and the extra weight is a help rather than a hindrance in many ways. Don’t knock them until you’ve tried them!

Steve, I think it’s time to stop justifying why we ride EMTB’s. Let’s embrace this fantastic innovation and focus on what is most important to all of us and that is where it can take us with the bonus of the enjoyment bikes provide.

I dig getting back to the channel’s roots with more non-scripted content! My experience selling MTBs for several years, tells me that it’s ego that has driven the vast majority of hate pointed at class 1 eMTB’s. I work at The Path Bike Shop in Southern CA (we only sell eMTBs/MTBs). I cannot tell you how many people have come around to loving eMTB’s that originally said that they “would never buy one”. Now many people are realizing what class 1 bikes really are…more of what you love! The biggest issue we’re facing is differentiating between class 1 eMTBs (PEDAL ASSIST ONLY), and all of the other versions of electric throttled bikes/motorcycles. That is the point that needs to be made more clear…if it has a throttle and you don’t have to pedal it (even if it has cranks & pedals), it’s not a bicycle. P.S. I personally think all other bikes other than class 1 bikes (speed limited to under 20mph or less) should require some version of a permit or license to operate. Cheers! DB

I turned 59 in 2024, I switched to e-bikes in 2023, I still regularly push out a 40 mile ride in eco and trail, for me, the main advantage of the e-bike is that I can get out in the wet Yorkshire winter weather and that the e-bike makes better use of the time I have available.

Coming from mx I found non ebikes abit skittish for me, I love the stability the weight brings, also tech climbing is a new challenge, in fact any uphill is welcome (wasn't on a non ebike) more mileage, more fun, more smiles, big grins having to brake for an uphill hairpin turn is new. It took one ride to decide to buy one. I'm 63 now and on my 2nd emtb.

Nice vid. I support various groups that have worked getting trails put in here and many of the comments give proof of what we have been lobbying about. Older riders and riders with various medical issues get a lot of good out of being able to have an ebike. Riders being rude and riding illegal bikes have made additional regulations and bans a real possibility in many areas. Hopefully, officials will realize that is a small percentage of those in the sport and not be too ham handed when they rule on things like that.

I bought one. Hated it. Too heavy. The weight just took the fun away and it was like riding a tank. Zero agility. I went back to a normal hardtail but now just discovered the trek fuel Exe and have got one of them. Perfect! Light enough and still enough power.

I like that comment you highlighted at 9:20 I never raced but when I was riding at my peak fitness in my late twenties and through my thirties I was training constantly in the gym or on a trainer and it was all so my ride outdoors would be longer and less taxing. Fast forward to today and I’m lucky to get in the gym 3 days a week let alone out on the trails in the mountains. I don’t want to ride the XC flat pokes I would train on all the time now if I want to go for a ride I want to get on the mountain and shred and that time is extremely limited due to life/family/work.

My wife and I are both 64 and have been riding MTB’s for years. She had some serious heath issues so she just could not climb like we used to. We originally tried an e-mtb for her. She was hooked so I tried one. I was hooked! We feel,it takes the best parts of mountain biking ( downhills and fast cross country) and adds fun uphills to it. Without an e-bike she would not be able to ride at all and I would not ride half as much as I like to ride with her.

I think e-bikes in general -- not just emtb -- have a negative perception here in the States because regulations allow for far too overpowered bikes with throttles that allow their riders to treat them like electric motorbikes and not pedal at all.

Mostly people are trolling, when they give their problems with you having an EMTB. There are basic trolling techniques, all they need is for you to be bothered by them and their day is made. The" maybe when Im old" thing is standard.

No apologies, no excuses, I bought an EMTB cause I ride all kinds of bikes, roadbikes, gravel bikes, manual mt bikes, motorcycles, and also an EMTB. Im 67 I dont need an EMTB just to be able to keep riding. EMTB is strictly for fun. And yeah the EMTB has ended up mostly sitting, its largely superfluous it turns out. Fun, but did I need one? No. I am at the point of being sick of others slyly giving me $hit over having an EMTB. They are basically trolling which is really common now a days. All done giving them polite comments back.

You mentioned peer pressure in a positive way (getting your friends on emtbs), but it can be a negative also. Several friends who are not fans of e-bikes, were the biggest hinderances for me getting my emtb. Unfortunately, some of their arguments are valid where we live. The biggest is the multitude of people on throttled e-bikes illegally riding the paved and dirt trails irresponsibly on full throttle with no apparent common sense or courtesy towards other trail users. I know this isn't the case in other areas, but it is definitely an issue here. But the only cure for this is greater numbers of e-bike riders setting the example of how to ride responsibly. For me, it's "More Smiles And More Miles!!!"

I've been mountain biking since early 90s . Which I got into to get fit for my offroad motorcycling. Unfortunately I was involved in a serious motorcycle accident in the Dolomites which took a hell of a long time to recover from. I got back on my mtb after about 6 months still will a open fracture in my left arm. ( plated) and was trying to get back to some sort of fitness. After ages hang off the back of the group a friend lent me his Levo That was it , i was hooked. . In 2020 I bought a cube Stereo hybrid and absolutely love it. Properly given me my mojo back. Now riding almost as hard as ever and loving still having energy for the decending after the climbing. Now 62 and loving being able to still keep at it. So much less hassle than preparing to take my enduro bike out so gets miles more use than the motor bike.

Riders don't have to "switch" to eMTBs, you can do both. I have a quiver of 5 MTBs and one is a eMTB. I'm 55yo and ride BMX, DJ, Trail, Enduro/free ride, DH and eMTB. I can do all that because I don't make excuses and keep my body fit through proper nutrition, daily stretching and calisthenics. Strong mind. strong body. Weak mind, weak body

i was peddling casually on a paved trail last year at about 25 kph .a young guy blew past me on a road bike like i was standing still . he looked at me and then my motor and laughed . about ten minutes later i came to a super steep part of the road and there he was standing up and pedaling like mad to make it up the hill . i put my bike in turbo and blew by him . he scoffed and i giggled . having a good laugh is reason enough to get an e-bike . 😂

We live in British Columbia. 57 and 62. Been in Mountain Biking since they came out in the 80’s. Turned to Dirtbiking when our kids were young because we couldn’t get them interested in mountain biking. Wish there were EMtB’s when they were young. We LOVE our EMtB’s. The analogue bikes are collecting dust. We even have EMtB’s for commuting into town via the trails. You really need to make a trip over to BC.
