Flycast is the better DC emulator. Trust me bro, once you get your hand on the Bios Files by sailing through the Seven Seas, Flycast is a breeze to use. Since it's open-source, you get each and every upscaling options available to you. from Texture Upscales, to Super Widescreen, you name it. Oh and it also emulates Sega Naomi arcade roms as well. And for NES, there's another emulator called Mesen. Which has texture replacement, that no other emulators offer. Using that feature, many people remastered classic NES games with 16bit Textures, and it's awesome. Love the video! Long live emulation

just a very small clarification. retroarch cores are not "basically" emulators, they are ACTUALLY emulators, just compiled to be used within retroarch instead of standalone. i had to compile retroarch myself, because the version i had didnt do something i wanted, so i looked up what libraries i was missing, installed them, checked the makefile and modified it as needed. i havent changed it since then. it works just as i want. i havent set up all the emulators only nes, snes, sms, genesis, gb, and some mame, as follows: nes - nestopia mame - mame2003+, mame 2010, mame 2016 because some games dont run in the most modern mame but run in older versions gameboy - sameboy snes - snes9x 2010 dreamcast - flycast sms - genesis plus gx

Couple of things. One, Project 64 has a donation nag screen. Doesn't stop the functionality, but it is annoying. "Please donate to us(wait 10 seconds to hit okay to actually get to the emulator)". The second thing, PS2 has a third "emulator" you didn't mention in this video. RetroArch has a PS2 core made by PCSX2. And as you did RetroArch for the Sega Saturn, even though the core you chose was made by the same people who make a stand-alone emulator, I thought it was a bit strange to leave that out. I use EmuVR for my retro gaming(which is essentially a fancy graphics frontend for RetroArch that functions in VR). And the PCSX2 core is rather decent and plays all of the PS2 games I have access to rather well, if not perfectly. Still need a BIOS for it though.
@benjaminmarcelocaballero17068 ай бұрын
What Saturn emulator was created by the same people that made Beetle Saturn? Is it SSF, because i also find strange that it was left out, SSF seems to be the most accurate Saturn emulator. He also left out simple64, which should have win if his priority is simplicity.
@TrexelCat8 ай бұрын
@@benjaminmarcelocaballero1706 I may have misspoke on who makes the Saturn core and standalone emulator. I don't actually play Saturn as I've never owned one. That was just the impression I got from the words used in the video that the same people who make the standalone make the core for RetroArch as well. Which is usually the case(not always).
@benjaminmarcelocaballero17068 ай бұрын
@@TrexelCat my bad also. Actually, as far as i know, the SSF emulator (which was not mentioned here) is completely differente than the Retroarch ones, and at least 3 years ago was considered the best emu for Saturn, if it isn't still.

I would like to see good video, but everytime you mention the "emulators" and you put Retroarch I feel your a missing the point. For example Retroarch has a nestopia core so why use nestopia instead of using the nestopia core for retroarch? With retroarch you get SO MUCH MORE, not just the core, but the capabilitie to use vrr, shaders, frames, netplay and so much more. So I like your choices for each system, but in most cases in your list is better to use the retroarch core of the emulator, like stella, nestopia, kega fusion, snes9x (even thou bsnes is way better since is cycle accurate), great choice for saturn, duckstation is great and yes mostly better to use the stand alone, but still mednafe core has a lot of similar options. For the N64 you get 3 different cores in retroarch that are super accurate, parallel ofr example. Flycast is amazing with shaders and redream is excellent too, for ps2 no doubt pcsx2 is no contest. From here one is always better to use the standalone versions.

I must admit 20 years I would of never entertained the thought of running emulators to play my games but these days and pcs being as powerful as they are and emulation being so good now I've gone the complete opposite direction I sold most of my collection a few years back and built a gaming pc and now I have every system and game I ever owned on there I love the way you can upscale older games especially old polygon games to run in much higher resolution and frame rates, then you have shaders which can make old Sprite based games look amazing, I do use retroarch with many cores as my main source for my systems its runs old systems very well, I only have 2 systems I run outside of retroarch and that is Yazu / Ryujinx Nintendo Switch and PCSX2, PS2 runs likes garbage in retroarch but the standalone emu is coming on leaps and bounds now especially with the nightly build version it's updated everyday with fixes and new bits, yup emulators are the way to go I love the fact i got everything in one place and done away with setting up consoles and sorting out wires its just there ready, I also play emulators using original console controller or I should say usb or wireless controllers that are faithful to the originals to get the feel like your really playing on original hardware.

Thanks for the list. For Nintendo DS how do you like to map the touch screen functions? On Steam Deck I'll just touch the screen, but on a monitor what are some ways you like? Do you use a mouse, the right analog stick, or have a good way to use a dual shock 4 or dual sense touch pad? I'm trying to set up the dual sense touch pad, but currently it's not that good. I can set the touch pad to function as a mouse (in Steam Input), but the sensitivity is wonky. I'm trying to get it to as close as 1:1 scale but haven't found any good info on it. Any advice would be appreciated.
