I love the Seiko 5 range. They manage to be both classy and affordable which other brands find difficult to pull off. Personal favourites are the SNKL43 and SNKL45, both of which I think are better looking watches than the SNKL23 which everyone seems to go crazy about. Had a look online and couldn’t find your model in stock anywhere Aviv. Really like the dial colour

Good review, well done..I have this exact watch, it keeps very good time. Its very handsome. I personally have no issues with the band at all. I know its become fashionable for everyone to say its very bad, but its very comfortable on my wrist, it has never pulled any hair on my arm, and let's be reasonable, it makes NO NOISE when you wear it! It only rattles WHEN SHAKEN! so people, stop shaking it!

The band isn't bad, I just think it doesn't match the watch because the dial on this watch is so gorgeous, the watch looks much more expensive than it is, while the band looks like what it costs.

Watch wears small and the bracelet is junk….BUT…..I love this watch! The dial is amazing and the lume during the daytime makes it pop even more. Easy on the wrist as it’s very lightweight. 19mm bracelet makes it a bit difficult to find a suitable oyster replacement bracelet.

great watch. just bought one never worn. as for the cons you mentioned, i agree that the bracelet is trash and i will replace it instantly with a nice leather one once i get it. i hate metal bracelets in general cant stand them. no handwind or hacking is a bit of a downer but the other cons you mentioned are subjective to your taste. i like the white date/day and dont really care about waterproofness as i dont go swimming wearing a watch :p. great review!

I like the black blue and white dial versions. But this gold dial on silver stainless steel is a wolf in sheep’s clothes. This pictures doesn’t tell how great the look really is but this version (SNXS81) is really hard to find. I‘ve catched a used one in mint condition, only for around 70€. Normally this version is discontinued and very hard to find. Some seller do not know the model names and just list them as Seiko 5. There you can look out for bargains.

@@apelincoln8427 there are some size differences. The bezel of the SNKK is wider than the SNXS line. It makes the watch looks more round, maybe not elegant as the SNXS. I dont like the gold crown on the SNKK, doesnt make sense and the look of the original bracelet, does really not fit with the watch overall. Agree with you the SNXS81 is really hard to find also because of the fact that people don‘t know the model number and just offer it as „Seiko 5“, „Seiko 7S26“ or „Seiko Dresswatch“ on Ebay. But even with this search words it is still very limited and rare to find, especially a good one or a J one.

I don't have that issue, but maybe you have a problem with the power reserve. That can happen. You can try shuffling the watch around for a longer time before you wear it. And of course do it again before you set it down for the night.

A classic for sure, but the disadvantages are just huge. You can't do 19mm AND a bad bracelet. Having a hidden crown without handwinding (protecting the gasket very well even without having to screw it down) and then go with 30m instead of 50/100 makes you question the designer.

I think one of Seiko's biggest problems is that they basically do whatever they want, many times without having the consumers in mind. That being said, that seems to work for them regardless, and they still are one of the biggest and most important watch manufacturers in the world. I use to think Seiko 5's were the best entry to automatic watches, however here in the UK they cost too much. They are priced well over £100. You can get so many better automatic watches with better bracelets, sapphire glass & still contain seiko movements. Seiko 5's are a bad buy IMO nowadays (in the UK at least).

The prices are really creeping up, and as they climb the value decreases, I totally agree. That being said, you need to take into account what other brands have in the same price range (Excluding Chinese brands of course). I doubt you can find an in-house automatic watch for around 100 GBP from any other mainstream brand.

that's perfectly normal! Most day and date wheels are bilingual. When you set the day choose the language you want, and when the day flips at 12PM it will flip to the next day in the same language.

I bought a SNXS79J on the back of all the hype. There are reviews from about it from big KZbin channels like Watchfinder & Co., Adrian Barket etc with a similar title to Jenn's. I can't believe the hype train around this watch. How can anyone compare it to a Rolex Oyster Perpetual? I absolutely hate it. I own 10 Seikos including SKX007J, SARB033 and a Sumo. The SKXS79J is the worst Seiko I've come across. The main issue is the tiny case. It looks like a toy. At best it looks like a women's watch. It might be fine for "men" with women's sized wrists. The bracelet must be one of the worst I've seen. The recessed crown. The list goes on... It seems I'm the only person who doesn't like this watch. I just don't get it! I'm planning on returning it.
