While a little out of date, the gg software must have been updated pushing sonar so I couldn't customize the settings on software without being forced to use it (it will not allow you to use dolby if you do), I managed to do it via the dac and what a difference. It's not sennheiser audio level but it's pretty darn good. Seriously Steelseries makes it difficult to enjoy their headphones out of the box. It needs work if you use these things for more than just trying to hear footsteps. These expensive headphones need better support. Thank you for the help with this Exique. Turned a headset I don't really like outside of it's ease of use to something I can use regularly.

I tried your settings but for me; the sibilance was too high and I added more bass as well. Your video encouraged me to dabble around, and default vs using eq is night and day. It's nuts!

I have the wired version of the Nova Pro headset and love these settings. The sound is amazing. Thanks for your efforts and for posting this. I also reached out to Dolby support and requested that they add values to the equalizer sliders in their software. It makes it a little more challenging when your on PC and Xbox to duplicate your settings without numbers. This software has been out for a while and slider values should have been added by now. Only issue with my wired is if I use any sort of artificial spacial audio (sonar, sonic, dolby) it takes the audio resolution from 96khz back to 48 khz which defeats the purpose of why i purchased the wired in the first place.

@@MsTheChosenOne23 I used the Dolby settings in this video and they are awesome. I don’t use sonar or windows Sonic. Sonar had too many bugs the last time I used it. I just prefer Dolby over any of them. I used the exact same settings on everything exactly like the video shows. I installed Dolby on my series x and pc and use these settings on both. I play FPS competitively and I can hear the footsteps and things my team mates cannot. Great headset and I’m very pleased with my purchase.

Thanks for the video. I was getting so frustrated with Sonar I was about to go buy a new headset. It could just be my ignorance or some windows settings i had wrong, but the surround sound on the sonar is terrible and required too much fiddling. Reverting To the GG EQ and using the Dolby Atmos was simple, and it just works and sounds great.

A little of both. While calibrating I don't follow it to a T. Depending on the title you're playing a perfect calibration might not help as much. Most viewers here are here to make their headsets sound better, not exactly a perfect calibration that is optimized for general use. Everyone ears are different though so I know to some the settings may sound off, but so far the majority is very positive. I appreciate your inference.

These seem like decent settings, but there is some instability I hear in the audio when playing podcasts (tried a few different ones to test); sounds like too much high end frequency and a bit of a hiss. Also, can you please help me understand why combining GG EQ and Dolby EQ is okay? I was always under the impression that only one set of EQ should be used at a time. I am certainly no expert though--just looking for the optimal sound output.

Double EQing is usually a bad idea as it can lead to harsh (blasted) sounds and added audio latency. If using an EQ for the headphones with the GG app it's best to use Performance mode as this applys the Atmos HRTF effects without adding any coloration to the audio. If you AREN'T using an EQ for your headset (having everything flat) then you can mess around with the EQs within Atmos. This is my opinion ofc but double EQing leads to more problems than solutions.

Sonar EQs do not sync with the headset when connected to the PS5. What you’ll have to do is copy his EQ preset from the video to the custom EQ on the DAC and use it.

Yessir it's perfect for FPS where you need to hear footsteps. The bass response is already solid on the Nova Pro, so I made sure not to lower it too much but rather add to the higher range frequencies which should directly affect the sound of footsteps. Dolby access surround virtualizer that I show in the video also helps for player awareness. Thanks!

The GG “Engine” EQ settings are the only thing you can tweak unfortunately. I have the Nova 7P for my PS5 and it won’t support Dolby or Sonar, so those settings are useless if you’re playing on a PS5. The only thing you can use on PS5 is the *3D-Audio* … but you have to keep your *EQ settings on FLAT* or it won’t work. I haven’t tried it yet, but it’s supposed to be pretty decent for the wireless Arctis Novo 7P/7X and above. The wired Novo 7 headphones normally give 96/kHz but if you add any type of after or pre effects (especially for PC… Sonar, Spatial Audio etc) processing it drops it from 96/kHz to 48/kHz… but if you’re on the wireless headphones that won’t apply to you

So firstly I wanted to thank you for this. After trying your settings, there was an absurd improvement for me over presets. But this set me off in a discovery mission and ultimately led me to try Sonar's game specific EQ settings. I found these settings to be quite excellent, so I returned Dolby to flat eq and let sonar handle it. I can only speak for Destiny 2. That said Dolby's surround virtualization is by far, and I cannot stress this enough, BY FAR better than sonar's spatial audio. It's actually disturbing how badly sonar is comparatively. Audio cues are very, very important in FPS games - and sorry Steelseries, you fail to deliver the excellence that is Dolby Access. Thanks for showing me the light.

Hell yeah man that's awesome! Definitely worth it, hopefully the earcups aren't too shallow for you lol. I'm patiently waiting for wickedcushions to release their replacements. To answer your question, yes it can double the intensity but only to a certain degree, the main use of using two EQs is more fine tuning since Dolby offers a little more control than steelseries GG, and not to mention dolby has amazing virtual surround sound in comparison to all the other gaming headsets built in surround sound. So no they definitely don't conflict, as long as you're careful how much you move the levels then it can be a super useful way to really customize the sound signature. Thanks for watching!

Sonar I'm not aware of as I haven't personally used it a whole lot. Sonar does alot of things for you as far as Equalizers and audio settings go, and I prefer to do it all myself. Without sonar it should all transfer! Hope this helps!

The sonar app is definitely a very useful feature, but if I'm being honest Dolby access is just way ahead of it's time and very refined. If you're streaming then there are certainly major benefits to using sonar. If you are like me and just want the most clarity and mid to high end definition with balanced lows then Dolby is the way to go. They've been in the audio game for way longer, and have refined their craft. It may partially be bias, but I certainly encourage people to at least check sonar out and see how they feel about it.
