Lisa - I absolutely LOVE your videos and share them at every opportunity! They are precise without being stodgy and they're extremely well edited without being overly stylized - something sorely lacking in most of today's YT videos. You talk just enough to deliver the message w/o being chatty. In all, a recipe for a great video, as your subscriber numbers can attest. Thank you for sharing and keep up the great work!

This really was one of the best chili recipes I've ever had. I did add three extras: a whole guajillo chili, jalapeno, and some sweet potato to the mix. But the chili itself was superb. I shared this recipe with a friend of mine, and he will be making it for his family too. I absolutely love your channel so much Lisa!

This chili looks delicious 😋. I made two different versions with what I had at home. I didn't have bacon, I use ground turkey instead of ground beef. I grilled up some tomatoes. I used black beans on one and I used lentils and another to substitute beans. They were both delicious! Glad I subscribed. I will continue to follow you and make your recipes. Thank you!

My husband is a chili connoisseur so I HAD to try this recipe! It is AMAZING!😋The chili is super flavorful yet not too spicy🌶, and the perfect amount of beans to meat ratio! I used smoked paprika and fire roasted tomatoes in mine and those sent the flavor over the top! Thank you for another delicious recipe...waiting for that cookbook😉 And of course we served it with all the extras...why not!!!😉

I made this chili for my meal prep this week and it was so delicious!! Chili just keeps getting better day after day. I usually make chili with turkey but this time I decided to use beef because your recipe had that and it was much hardier with the beef. I ended up using my smoked paprika in this and yum! I’ll keep this one for sure! Great job!!

I love soup! The first soup I ever made from scratch was potato soup. I was watching Julia Child on PBS-fyi an original episode before cable and the internet were a thing LOL. it was 😋 yummy. Her recipe called for leeks and in those days that was not something I was familiar with nor was it a regular at the supermarket (I was young and my mother did not cook a lot) so I just used onion. I have since tweaked the recipe by adding carrot and celery and occasionally making it a cheesy version. I never did try it cold, sorry can’t spell vichyssoise. LOL!

Great tip on the Roasted Tomatoes, that's ALL I use now when cooking ;) I roasted my tomatoes before making a huge batch of sauce to freeze for the year :) NO need for sugar this year~! Roasting the tomatoes really brought out the sweetness in the tomatoes, well worth the time and effort~

Ground beef usually tends to be tougher cuts minced up so it may help to cook it low and slow in a slow cooker.
@Downshiftology4 жыл бұрын
You can definitely make this in the slow cooker as well! 😊
@juliecarson36234 жыл бұрын
You can get a much more tender result by adding a solution of 3/4 teaspoon baking soda in 2 tablespoons water for every 2 pounds of ground meat. Work the solution through the meat and let the meat sit out for 15-20 minutes before you cook it. Haven't tried this when slow cooking ground meat, but this is seriously effective on the stovetop. www.cooksillustrated.com/how_tos/6707-tenderizing-meat-with-a-baking-soda-solution

Great recipe! I add my spices as the meat is browning, then I add a bottle of Corona Lite (considered gluten free) to the browned meat and simmer for 30 minutes before adding my other ingredients. Hi, the best chilli I ever made was slow cooked in the oven for about 4 hours whilst we went to the pub. To this day I’m still not sure if it was the libations or the slow cooking 😁.
@a.75254 жыл бұрын
Both 😉
@Lady_Cyndia3 жыл бұрын
It's because of the slow cooking. The longer cooking time gives the chili time for the ingredients to blend deliciously. Have you noticed how the chili or even spaghetti sauce tastes better the next day? It happens for the same reason. When I make chili, I start cooking it about noon, once it's fully cooked, I turn off the heat and just let it sit on my stove top with the lid on. At dinner time, I just heat and serve. Yummm, give it a try, cook it ahead of time and then turn it off and enjoy the rest of your day.

This is very similar to my award-winning chili con carne recipe. Chile con carne is, of course, a Tex-Mex specialty, and any chili that wants to be authentic should hew close to the originals. ( Not that variations aren't good! ) I personally would ditch the bell pepper in this recipe. It has a tendency to shift the flavor profile in any food in a distinct direction that is non-negotiable. A Hatch chile or even a Poblano would be preferable, but no whole chile is really necessary. I add some oregano to my chili and fresh crushed garlic when I am sautéing the meat. I prefer a blend of ground beef and pork, never turkey. I simmer my chili for a minimum of three hours; six is ideal.
