Things like this make me physically uncomfortable. Her teacher is seriously setting her up for an injury. Even the walk out at the beginning is completely wrong. No one walks out en pointe like that. She should have been on demi pointe. And then her feet are pointed all wrong, and her body probably isn't even mature enough for her to be wearing pointe shoes at all.

for anyone who's wondering (not sure how many people are still viewing this video), this girl's teacher is *Marina O'Neill* of *Young Ballet of London*. I was a student of hers ... unfortunately (I'm not the person in the video though, although I do know her). Very bad teacher is all I'll say ... not just incompetent and unqualified, but also downright nasty, to put it lightly.

Read until the end: Though she was extremely messy, I completely blame this on her teacher and her parents for allowing her to do this. She definitely has some talent but this variation is far too challenging for a little girl, many professionals would even struggle with it. She should not be en pointe this young, it will possibly ruin her career if she keeps going on like this. Her attitude needs some toning down, but the effort was fantastic I only hope that she finds a good ballet teacher who will take her best qualities and let them shine by fixing all of her technical errors and going back to the basics. I feel so bad for this little girl, she was exploited terribly, hopefully she will keep dancing after some of the rather harsh comments made by a few.

@@mimiduquette8786 I can't help but wonder if this is a little rich girl who's never been told "no" in her life and whose parents paid/pushed for her to do this. Or alternatively if she is a victim of a stage mother who's pushed her to fulfil her own unfulfilled ballerina dreams. Either way, the poor little mite had no business attempting such a difficult piece, that even most adult ballet dancers struggle with. Pointe is not something you do because you want to or think you have nice feet... it requires a foundation of technique and strength building. I watched this video and had a good giggle, but then i scrolled down and saw the comments... Come on! Seriously, what's with people insisting on putting down a CHILD? Granted, this young lady probably shouldn't have started out with such a difficult variation on pointe... My only concern is that she could hurt herself. But she's showing a lot of courage, and panache. She's got a HELL of a lot of stage presence, and I really want to know what she's doing now. Who cares if an 8 year old is pointing her feet (if it really hurts your eyes then stop watching).

This is a DISGRACE!!! Whoever the teacher is should be stopped from teaching AT ONCE. That child will have a horrendous accident in the near future, if she's allowed to carry on straining her body like this. POINT WORK? She can probably barely manage the demi pointe work as yet..She's just 8 years old, bless her heart. Despite the car crash of teacher that she has, this little girl shows quite a lot if promise, but with the teacher she has NOW, she'll be lucky to be walking by the time she's 10 years old. I cannot believe what I have just seen there. Mum and Dad, PLEASE, put her with a good reputable teacher, and if them5 all goes well, she will make a lovely little dancer. She has all the makings, but if you leave her where she is, not only is herbody being endangered, but she'll become a laughing stock at school or if she tries to dance in public, simply because the affected mannerisms which her current teacher is making her do, is exageratedly peculiar. It won't do HER or het self confidence any good in the future.

Reese overlock, You may not be a ballet teacher but I can assure you that you have hit the nail, clean on the head. She does indeed have potential, but she absolutely HAS like the day before yesterday, GOT to get out of that hell hole of a ballet school that shr currently attends, and go to.a teacher with qualifications behind her name. THIS current butcher/ monster obviously doesn't even know the basics, and how that one EVER got to start a ballet school is marginally beyond me. All I will say is, that I am speaking as a retired, but 100% fully qualified ballet teacher of 28 years experience, who not only taught dancing, but to be allowed to teach it, had to. Know basic anatomy, to know where the bones, muscles and tendons were, so that injury could be avoided, and I held qualifications from 3 different societies of teachers of dancing.

Leaving aside the performance issues, I think the Esmeralda is totally unsuited for a little girl, period. The context is that Esmeralda is dancing for men to throw money (sort of 17th century pole dancing) and it's meant to be fiery, sensual, sexy and passionate. I get the icks seeing a nine year old performing it.

Bom, ao meu ver faltou um pouco de técnica, e limpeza das passagens. O alongamento da bailarina é bem promissor, mas precisa ser explorado com técnica por um professor que entenda o que está fazendo.

wow she has so much artistry and passion! walking on her top toes at the start has never been done before and was a risky move but she executed it perfectly! She has so much passion and confidence but no wonder why because she is so amazing! i am a ballerina myself and could never be like that! although i inspire to be like her everyday! i could not stop watching because she carried me away into a trance!

Her teacher shouldn't have made her start pointes that young . Well most of dancers do start that young but their ankles are ready . But even if she doesn't do it on pointes , I personally think that she doesn't dance very well even if she's nine. But she is very brave to do a competition .

Omg that poor girl. She has no foundation. No turn out. Can’t spot. Should NEVER be en pointe with no ankle strength. Her teacher is horrible allowing this.

My ballet teacher lets me go on pointe, even though I'm 11, but I've watched myself dance and it's not as bad as this girl. Her poor parents spend so much money on this, she should find a better ballet teacher because unlike her ballet teacher isn't giving her enough time to practice and perfect this variation

This poor girl did the absolute best she could. It’s not her fault it’s the teachers for. 1 putting her in pointe shoes, at such a young age. She should at least be in her teens years maybe, from the age 11 they should start. On En pointe , 2 even some older ballet dancers have a hard time with this variation. Some of them are in the early 20’s or late teens. 3 she can do some extreme damage to her ankles she is having a hard time getting up and staying on pointe. Her young ankle can’t take that, pressure she will have server problems, when she’s much older. 4 she would of been better off doing this variation in flats, then pointe. I hate some comments making fun of her, she is trying her absolute best but the, teachers and her. Parents shouldn’t have let her done this, even I at 17 have difficulty doing this variation. A better ballet school and a lot of practice building up, her muscles in her legs. She will do really good at this, it will just take time and patience. This is my opinion I can’t see the difficulty she had, in this variation she tried so hard to do it. It’s not her fault that she did it and I don’t, know why people are making fun of her. She is just a young dancer, with a dream people need to. See the other side to this as well. I hope she is doing much better now, since this was uploaded six years ago. It doesn’t say how old she was but my guess is around 7-10. She can do anything that she puts her mind to.
