Wow!!! Touching the speed of 150 in the age of 16 Incredible!!!. Nowadays kids are comparing Shoaib Akhtar and Brett lee with others they don't know what the era that was and especially this man who were bowling at 150+ and had a capacity to swing the ball. One of the only Australian cricketers who never sledged the opposition and was the first person by the batsman's side if he got injured by one of Lee's balls. One of the greatest cricketers ever and also a great human being. A true sportsman.
@davewalkeden69323 жыл бұрын
Really? A true sportsman would never have bowled the amount of 'accidental' beamers that Lee bowled over the years. A true sportsman wouldn't try and maim a loud mouthed journalist by deliberately cracking his ribs, just to prove a point. As for one of the greatest cricketers ever, you're having a laugh, aren't you? If I had to pick a greatest ever Aussie team, Brett wouldn't be anywhere near it. In fact, he'd struggle to get a game in the 4th XI. I can think of a dozen better Oz quick bowlers than him.....
@abiromu3 жыл бұрын
@@davewalkeden6932 that's just your opinion, just like I stated my opinion above. We don't have to agree with each other.
@davewalkeden69323 жыл бұрын
@@abiromu Mate, you are 100 percent accurate, it's my opinion that he's far from a saint. I, however, have backed my opinion up with verifiable facts, while yours remains just an opinion. His sportsmanship was generally very good, but he had a nasty streak, just like a lot of fast bowlers. Have you watched him try and kill Piers Morgan - a nasty piece of work himself - just because he could? Breaking a non-cricketer's ribs while bowling huge front foot no-balls at the same time is a fucking dog act, not an act of a great human being, as you refer to him. I lost all respect for him after that. Also, please try and convince me that he's a better Test bowler than McGrath, Gillespie, Lillee, Cummins, Lindwall, Miller, Thomson, Davidson, Harris, Reid, Clark or McDermott? Shit, I'd even pick Mitch Johnson ahead of him, and he was Mr Inconsistent. Pyjama cricket, different story. He was a fantastic ODI bowler. But as a Test bowler? Nah. Stats rarely lie, and he averaged more than 30 with the ball. One of the greatest cricketers ever? Please tell me that you're joking..... 🤣🤣

@@davewalkeden6932 again, I don't owe you any explanation for my opinion. Feel free to think what you want to.
@davewalkeden69323 жыл бұрын
@@abiromu Fair enough. Perhaps then, you should refrain from making fucking stupid - oops, incongruous comments that infer Brett Lee never sledged the opposition (false), or he's one of the greatest cricketers ever (obviously false, unless your list of greatest ever cricketers contains a helluva lot of names). If you can't back up the twaddle you post, don't bother posting it in the first place. And don't get too upset when someone points out that you're talking out of your arse..... 😘

I learnt in swing on my own using a normal kid's plastic ball that has seam pattern at centre. Initially, I also struggled to inswing the ball and I watched lot of videos explaining the same technique similar to this video. The problem with this technique is most of the times your release will be a scrambled seam. So, if you are lucky it will swing into the right hand batsman if the release is correct i.e., an upright seam position pointing towards leg slip/fine leg. So, I tried to correct my release with same technique by observing it in the video of my release recorded with my phone. However, It didn't work for me. So what worked for me was, ROTATING MY WRIST TOWARDS LEG SLIP DURING RELEASE. After learning this, I was able to swing-in but my pace dropped a bit due to that wrist rotation adjustment. I continued practising this with plastic ball and was able to achieve both pace and inswing. The idea is, only you have to figure out yourself that how you are going to achieve that seam position by making adjustment in your action and release. For some people in my cricketing circle, it works by keeping natural wrist release but ny delivering the ball from left side of their head (check Mohd. Asif's coaching video on swing). Good luck ! I hope my experience helped.

Much of what has trickled down to modern day bowlers has come via Craig McDermott and what he learned from David Nilsson Dave was the Queensland State catcher from age 17 and played eight seasons with the Milwaukee Brewers. Dave was also an All Star catcher, being the only Aussie All Star. It's no coincidence that Maccas change of pace (changeup) grips started appearing through his friendship with Dave. Many of today's deliveries such as changeup varieties, sliders, so called knuckle balls, split fingers even the palm ball are directly from baseball grips.
@davewalkeden69323 жыл бұрын
Complete and utter bullshit. Bowlers have been using illusion and trickery for as long as the game has been played. The slower ball, or knuckle ball, or whatever you wanna call it, had been perfected long before Craig McDermott cane onto the scene.....
