I saw this video; immediately went to the Korean mom and pop shop around the corner to order and devour it. Bought all the ingredients the next day and made it. I almost cried, not only because it was absolutely delicious, but because my house smelled like the mom and pop shop around the corner. I knew I did something right. Thank you for the recipe, found the courage to make my first legit Korean recipe. Long time fan of the aromatic, fragrant and comforting home style dishes. 💛

My secret recipe for kimchi soup is to use perilla oil stir fry sour kimchi first then adding broth. It gives you smoky depth of kimchi flavour. My mum’s and grandma’s secret recipe.😊

I really resonate with the memories you have of your Mum. It hits home for me. I lost my mum too and I miss her for some small, yet impactful things. My mum was a great cook and would always be ready stand up for me if I needed it. Mums are the best.

10/10 recommend, this is such an easy recipe to make, I almost always have all of these ingredients on hand, and it is just so soothing and spicy and flavorful. I don't change a thing (other than regular zucchini, I looked everywhere for the Korean one...), and it's perfect as is.

I’m in the U.K. and I know very little about Korean food. However, I do make my own raw kimchi and I LOVE it. Watching your videos really makes my mouth water and I’d love to have a go. Is that little cooking pot traditional too? What beautiful videos! Love Hilly in Norfolk, UK ✌️

Made this recipe tonight and it turned out so well! I used a carrot because I had it on hand, and it added a density to the stew that was good. Love how spicy this is!

What is the name of the pot that this was cooked in? I must have one🥰 Also, would you please do a video the onions- I see Korean long onions that look like baby welsh onion (leeks) and spring or green onion. What are you doing with the enoki mushrooms here? I checked out the full recipe, but you don't say how to fry these mushrooms. It looks like you batter them in flour or starch mixed with seasoning and then fry them in a pan until crispy golden brown. What ingredients are you using for the coating?

I tried the recipe from the cookbook (without kimchi) and the 2 tablespoons of gochugaru wasn’t very spicy. I bought a fresh container from a large Korean grocery, thinking mine might have been old. Still not spicy like in restaurants. I even only used 1 1/2 cup stock the second time. Is it a problem with how I cook the gochugaru in the oil? I wonder if I am not getting it just at the right stage to wake up the flavours.

I have a mason jar full of kimchi that I made back in April, I made two and a half jars, I've only opened it once and I've been wondering if it would still be good? I think this would be a good recipe to use it in. What do think, is almost a year old too long to keep kimchi?
