Use to be good in Algebra I loved multiplying,dividing and factoring polynomials. Now that I’ve been married 40 years plus, I’m trying to refresh ny menory about it all. Looked at the best factoring hack you put out and stopped the vidio to figure the three case 1 videos and felt excited I figured then all correctly when I reatarted the video watching your answers. Thanks so much for putting these videos out.

ax^2 + bx + c = 0 ax^2 + bx. = - c x^2 + b/a(x) = - c/a Use (b/2a)^2 to complete the square (b/2a)^2 = b^2/4a^2 and add to both sides of equation. x^2 + b/2a + b^2/4a^2 = -c/a + b^2/4a^2 Factor left side (x + b/2a)^2 = -c/a + b^2/4a^2 (x + b/2a)^2 = (4a/4a)(-c/a) + b^2/4a^2 (x + b/2a)^2 = - 4ac/4a^2 + b^2/4a^2 Rearange right side (x + b/2a)^2 = (b^2 - 4ac)/4a^2 x +b/2a = +- sqrt(b^2 - 4ac)/2a x = - b/2a +- sqrt(b^2 - 4ac)/2a x = (-b/2a +- sqrt(b^2 - 4ac)/2a) x = (-b +- sqrt(b^2 - 4ac)/2a Complete

without remembering i see a 2 ans a 7 in the right side xexp2 is single so x and or another is 14 so we have sign diff between 7 and 2 that brings us to - 5x in this case 2 - 7 is -5 lets see (x+2)(x-7) i expand i get the problem that was a good tip previous.....
@mendozajovy Жыл бұрын
Factors of 14 = (2,7) (1,14) choose (2,7) -14 = (-2,7) (2,-7) choose (2,-7) since middle term is -5x (X-7)(x+2) Hence X=7 and -2 I can't remember how I learn this. Is it from my teachers or by observation or from earlier algebra topic? I think it is from from the earlier algebra topic: FACTORING. And Observation. Math is a ladder. If you cannot understand step of the ladder 2, you cannot understand step of the ladder 5. Math gets more difficult after Algebra and Trigo. But these two subjects are the foundation of higher math: analytic Geometry, Calculus, Advance Math and Differential Equations.

What about 3x^2 + 6x + 10? AFAICT, it cannot be solved using part 2 method - no real roots?
@akirakasinata-fk8qy11 ай бұрын
Indeed 3X^2 +6X +10 is different, Were it only 3X^2 +6X +3 it would become (√3X +√3)^2 but that leaves the remainder 7. To include this remainder requires that it would become (√3X + √3 +√7i)(√3X + √3 -√7i) As the additional+/- √7i (the 7 being the remainder) is the only way to increase the final value 3 to 10 without affecting the 6X as it would make both + and - 3X(√7i) which cancel each other out, and similarly on the final number, a + & - (√3)(√7i) except it would also make a final term (√7i)(-√7i) which = - -7, the same as +7 thus raising the 3 to a 10

What about the 3X^2 +6X +10? You missed it out 😭 So i worked it out for you 😋 Were it only 3X^2 +6X +3 it would become (√3X +√3)^2 but that leaves the remainder 7. To include this remainder requires that it would become (√3X + √3 +√7i)(√3X + √3 -√7i) As the additional+/- √7i (the 7 being the remainder) is the only way to increase the final value 3 to 10 without affecting the 6X as it would make both + and - (√3X)(√7i) which cancel each other out, and similarly on the final number, a + & - (√3)(√7i) also cancelling out, but it would also make an additional term, a (√7i)(-√7i) which equals - -7, which is the same as +7 thus raising the 3 to a 10 Presuming you know that 'i' is √-1
