6:58 That's not actually a fail, but 100% success. That is literally the opposite of fail what we have there. That sideroad is meant to be used by trucks that lose their brakes. They can use the sand to stop the truck safely instead of plummeting downhill.

Some FA clips are just accidents. In that clip, the truck's brakes were the fail. It's not that the driver did anything wrong.

Definitely a win! Heavy loads + steep inclines = out of control 18-wheelers. The runoffs help them to regain control! I saw it many times when I lived in Colorado.

Not if you've ever seen or had to work in those failed brake / run-away trucks AFTER they are forced to use those as a last resort... It destroys the entire undercarriage and often the engine too from the shear force & damage. May be a win for other motorists & the driver bit a HUGE FAIL for the owner & the truck, even if it does save the drivers life - it may well bankrupt them too.

@@thefailmoment Dad is a trucker of 30 years, told me that even if your truck is in tip top shape, accidents happen, hoses burst, brakes overheat, the truck and the cargo is insured (well, at least that's the case in the company he works for). So yeah, better wreck the truck than have a 40+ ton raging metal projectile smear several families all over the highway 😁

7:13- for those of you who do not understand what is happening, the truck lost control and couldn't slow down or stop. The government built that area for him to crash into. It is uphill, which slows him down and usually the road is covered in sand or something that he sinks into to also slow and stop the vehicle. Truck might be damaged and driver might get hurt, but it is a lot better than crashing all the way down the mountain running over cars and bicyclists.

@FMT-FunnyMoment : No, Not enough people know about those run-off zones, and yes, more awareness needs to be raised. There are so many people who have never been in a mountainous area, where this might be necessary, so they don't see the point, but those who have spent time in those areas are aware and understand their need and ultimate benefit. I don't understand why people think that driver of a run-away truck using one of these ramps is in serious danger and is certain to be gravely injured, when that very seldom happens. As for possible truck damage, that's what insurance is for.

@jacklow9611 - injury depends on the type of runaway ramp and the intelligence of the driver. Some ramps beat the snot out of the truck. They use bushes, water or sand filled barricades, crash barriers, guardrails, to stop the truck. Others are gentle like this one, which appeared to have something soft like sand to sink into. If the driver is stupid, he will try to turn and flip it or not realize he should be in the middle of it and bounce off the sides of the ramp like a pinball. And of course, since it is a great place to have a picnic, stop to use your cell or change a flat tire, there is always a great chance or running over a stupid person before you reach the ramp.

If you get the chance to see the whole vid watch it, guy in the tow truck is the owner of the black pick-up that he's pulling, tow truck driver was repo'ing the truck and owner came out and jumped in the tow truck and took off with it, not sure what his end game was but I'd say he's facing some felony charges along with some serious restitution.
