Just wanna say I appreciate how open minded you are when it comes to experimentation and trial/error. Not every hunter has the same region, topography, browse pressure etc.

Great tips. I no my property there isn’t much ag around some. But my neighbors all hunt and plant plots anywere from 5 acres to 40. They plant corn beans brassicas wheat rye oats. So there is plenty of food around and alot of big woods

Sounds like lots of variety. Are you planting anything?

@@Whitetailobsessionoutdoors oh yes i plant stuff but it seems so hard to comepete with these guy i dont even try. One neighbor puts out 4 ton of corn a month and 2 tons of protein. My pockets arent thst deep. I planted alot of different trees just tryin to give the deer a different variety

I’m wanting to start a perennial clover plot in a quarter acre food plot that I currently have buckwheat and summer annual clovers in. It has no weeds and great seed to soil contact opportunities. Should I just broadcast my perennial clovers in it this fall?

I just got back from TSC. They have 40 lb bags of Domain Forage Oats for $27.99. Plus a 15% discount today for veterans.

I used the whole oats they sell as livestock feed(Producer's Pride), 50 lbs for $20+- and had excellent germination. Probably using it again...deer loved it.

@@williamgaines9784 I have a grain elevator close and used theirs last year. I wanted to compare the cold hardiness of these. If there is not a difference I will be back to the grainery or try Producers Pride. I have used Producers Pride products in the past and was pretty happy. I have been pretty happy with Domain also. Thanks for the info.

I put in 4 apple orchard with 10 to 40 trees. Would you consider that early mid or late season food source. Each orchard has minimum 5 types of apples. The 1 with 40 has 15 types.
@Whitetailobsessionoutdoors5 ай бұрын
Yeah it would be a good source but it’s going to take years and even then it’s limited. Fruit producing trees shouldn’t be the base of a feeding program. I think they should be added in on top of food plots and quality natural Browse.

I have a quarter acre plot would you rather do no bs or wingman? I think wingman’s very interesting and want to try it but don’t know how much hybrid brassica it is so want to make sure it’s browse tolerant. Just curious, Thanks!
@Whitetailobsessionoutdoors5 ай бұрын
1/4 acre would definitely do NO BS. But an even better option I think would be hall pass. Hall pass if you have a lot of deer. No BS if you have a moderate amount of deer

Man i have to ask, you may even have a video on this! What do you think about humic acid? Is it bullshit or does it do at least something? I'm getting mixed info! Thanx man
@Whitetailobsessionoutdoors4 ай бұрын
@@troybrake5686 well I’ve only used the liquid humic acid from domain. They also sell a granular humic acid. I think both have a place and I think humic acid is legit. I’ve read the research and seems promising. The question boils down to, if you apply humic acid to a 1/4 acre food plot when there’s thousands of acres around you is it really going to make a difference? Probably not much. Now if you are applying it to hundreds of acres then yeah you can make a difference. Hope that explains it
@troybrake56864 ай бұрын
@@Whitetailobsessionoutdoors yeah good take on that, I was thinking domain had a humic product, i ordered an acre jug of farmers secret and I got to digging after the fact and was getting 2 stories on it, the grass factor) I'm pretty sure that's his channel has a video laying out studies from big university and was showing poor results with minimal upside is a the reason i asked you, i trust you're opinion! Thanx for the reply back, and a side note, that guy doesn't knock humic he just reads the findings! I found it interesting cause there's a lot of snake oil these days! Keep on keeping on brother 💪

@kdsberman well they do go dormant once frost hits but they are highly preferred early season. That’s why I’m adding them into my brassica mix at a low rate
