Best Filament For the Bambu P1S?

Aw shit, Ive been printing nothing but Articulated Battlemechs since I got my P1S, soon as I saw the atlas, I knew I had found the right video.

I've been slowly adding to my printed collection in between other prints. King Crab, an Awesome and a few others. I wish I knew how to paint. :)

Do you always print PLA on your P1S closed? A lot of discussion online mentions printing PLA with the lid open, or the door open, or some combination of both. THats my main concern with picking up a P1S if I'm doing a lot of PLA printing

I typically print PLA with the door closed and lid on because it helps cut down the sound significantly in the small room my printer is located. That said, I have printed with the door open several times without any problems (usually just because I forgot to close it). Additionally, in the winter here in Iowa I will probably always print with the door closed to prevent drafts that might allow a little warping on the bed if the temp is too extreme. In all my PLA printing, I haven't seen an instance where having the door open or closed made too much of a difference. If a print fails it usually for another reason! Other filament types like PETG etc that equation might change a little. I print PLA exclusively so far.

Did you need to make any adjustments to your printer or spools to mount it or is it just a plug and go scenario?

This is really a plug-and-go situation! The P1S and the AMS together have been comparatively SOOO problem free that I just print. I've had an occasional random problem but for the most part, I really cant' say enough good things. I bought a bunch of spare parts to have on hand but to date, I've needed none of them.

Thanks for your video. My experience with overture PLA is the exact opposite, I bought 6 spools and it's nothing but problems.I thought I could save a few bucks, it was $13.99 on sale and bambu is $16.99 on sale / in bulk and it's not worth it in my opinion. Maybe I am having an issue with my printer, however the bambu PLA is still hassle free. Did you just use the overture profile? or did you calibrate?

I actually print with the Bambu PLA setting. I didn't even set them to the Overture PLA setting. I have especially had great luck with the Overture Midnight Black Eco PLA which is their cheapest filament. I've printed probably 20-30KG of that thru my P1S already. I've used their other filaments but not nearly in the same quantities. As for other brands, I've now tried some Elegoo filament and have had some issues. I'm still trying to determine if its the filament or perhaps the specific prints I'm doing. Some 3d models are definitely more prone to failure than others.

@@DanielGoodwin-jq1oc Thanks for the reply, Maybe I just got a bad batch or got my settings wrong. I had another failure today, going to go back to some Bambu labs tomorrow and see if it again behaves properly. Thanks for your input and your video...

That's a good test. I do that on occasion when I wonder about whether I got a good filament roll (regardless of manufacturer). I go to a print that I know prints well (one I've done before), I print it with a filament that I know prints well and then I print it with the one I'm unsure about. If both are successful, I figure there's probably something else afoot.

@@DanielGoodwin-jq1oc same i use the bambu pla profile, initially i used the generic profile but something on the nozzle temp was off. I dont recall if high or low since it was over a yr ago.

What speeds?

Standard speed settings. 50/105 for first layer, 200/300 for the outer and inner walls. 270/250 for infill. 200 for Top Surface. 50/30/10 for Overhang speed. Bridge 50. Travel at 500. The Midnight Black is amazing with normal settings.
