Excerp's from Sami's report for this 2020 trip:
I will begin this report by saying - the trip that was just about to be cancelled ended up being simply the best one to New Caledonia!
I had Eduard, Nelson and Paul joining me on this trip. I fished with both Eduard and Paul in the past but never with Nelson. Nelson is an incredibly funny character to have on board and to say the less we had a great time!
Amazing of what we learn when we are putting countless hours on the water: no sharks equals no doggies. Simple!
We jigged to no vail but nothing was happening deep under so in general we did not give jigging a lot based on what we’ve been seeing on a daily basis.
The topwater bite was simply on fire for us on the 3rd and 4th day where we pushed north, and we encountered one of the best Napoleon Wrasse bite ever. We were seeing them on the water, and I would say we had a warm eddy that helped a bit and made them more aggressive and active.
We hooked 8 in total and landed 7 which in my book the best I’ve ever heard and encountered.
I landed 3 on the third day and Eduard landed 1 while the 4th day was an astonishing day for Eduard landing 3 Napoleons - all on topwater.
The same group booked 2021 so I can’t wait to share another memorable adventure with them, you guys rock and as always thank you for your continuous business and support!
I had the chance to test the Race Point 150, 200 and 250 2nd generation and I am pretty much happy with the results specially the 150 been reconstructed to be slightly more parabolic. I will keep on pushing trying to find the right phase for each of the rod and I will make decision to start production after couple of month of testing trying to achieve the highest standard we can offer to our clients.
