We will be taking a 4 day vacation to Co Springs Aug 21 to 24. We fly in To Denver on the 21 in the mroning so I'd like to spend the day to find a good breakfast and lunch place. Not too pricey and not too hipster...more of a hole in the wall place is what we like.

It's kind of in the middle of nowhere (but near airport hotels) but the Moonlight Diner on Tower is incredible.

Sit at the bar at El Five - Sangria is great, along with incredible mixed drinks; great paella varieties, tapas plates - hangar steak, yum, and chocolate baklava is very good.

I am from India , was in Denver for 4 years during my post grad and employment in an architecture firm , lovely city , really unique as it has the city vibes and you can be also close to nature , people are friendly and unassuming , still miss being there 😊

Wow. I lived in Denver from 2009-2014, moved to upstate NY for work and Denver has changed so much since marijuana legalization. It seems like there's so much more money and exponential growth with the food and other cultural scenes. Probably because Denver became a destination for pot tourists and who doesn't want to treat themselves while they're in a vibrant city on vacation, especially when you've got some heavy indica munchies? Denver Biscuit Co was just a single food truck when I lived there. Tocabe had just recently opened when my wife and I were leaving the city, so I never got to try it (the indian fried taco is nothing new in Denver, however). Biker Jim's was around when I was there, and they have really good, if a bit overpriced food. (Mile High Vienna on Santa Fe is waaaaaay cheaper and you won't be disappointed) If you're on vacation, why not have an expensive wild meat sausage? I don't know how many residents go there often. I never heard of Root Down or the Inventing Room. As a former resident, my picks for best Denver food are El Taco De Mexico, Goodtimes (I'm not joking), Mile High Vienna, Brother's BBQ (the location on Wadsworth, specifically) and GB Fish and Chips (the location on Broadway is where I always went. I'm from Connecticut, and their fish and chip plate kills 90% of New England places specializing in seafood). I honestly think that Denver Biscuit Co and Biker Jim's are really good, but there are way more affordable options that leave you with a very happy belly. Denverites are really proud of their city, so ask someone on the street where they like to eat. There's a ton of little places that make incredible food. I just scratched the surface in 5 years of living there. If you love pho, for example, there's a gas station owned by a Vietnamese family just north of the Community Service streetwear shop in Englewood on Broadway that has the most incredible and generous pho takeaway. It's astonishingly good.

For pho, our favorite place is Pho 95 at Arizona and S. Federal. It's a good thing we have such good food in Denver. At a mile high, we burn calories just getting out of bed.

DBC still has that food truck, and the same people run it. They've just expanded. Even opened one in Kansas City last year. But yeah, after 2012 things did begin to change, and now a decade later it's pretty different.

Try Casa Mariachi in Parker just south in the Denver metro area. Ask for Saul as your waiter. Make sure to ask the ceviche de ongo as an appetizer and get a dos xx michelada spicy as your drink. make sure to stir it from time to time. Get the carne asada plate for dinner and squeeze some lime on that baby. You will be in mexican food heaven!

Hop skip jump to Garden of the Gods drive through park... be sure to pull over for an iconic pic 3. Once on the backside of the park meander your way on W. Pikes Peak Ave. to La Baguette 🥖 for delicious French Onion Soup,,, be sure to order the croc of fondue 🫕 cheese to share... croissant&baguette sandwiches are classic, simple tarragon vinegr dressing on salad, then, save room for a shausse dessert and classic French chocolate eclair & croissants! A bit of Europe in Colorado Springs. After Lunch,,, walk across the street to Michael Garman Gallery and for $5 do the seek and find in Magic City a 1/6 scale town. After meandering in the shops... drive over to Ivywildschool.com for a Bristol Breeing Company beer and a look around... so worth the visit. Hope you have a special memorable time...
