When I saw your photos of Michigan it brought back memories of going to Mackinaw Island when I was a kid probably 25 years ago, I still remember biking around the island. Awesome drones shots, so beautiful there in the north island. ❤️❤️❤️

You may have to take a trip back there some day!! We really love visiting. It was a Labor Day Weekend tradition for our family to go up north. One year, we went up in the winter when an ice bridge was formed. Islanders take their snow mobiles across to the island. We XC skied across!! (This was before kids!)

We were so worried when we moved to NZ that we wouldn't be able to afford anything. We knew the cost of living was high. We soon realized with freedom camping and all the free activities, we could really live the life we were dreaming! Hope you are surviving the lock down. Looking forward to when we can get out again!

Have you gone to the Coca Cola lake? It's right next to the freedom campsite. We drove by it so many times wondering why there were so many people there. Eventually we decided to check it out and were amazed by how crazy it was!

It's called Tokerau Beach. A bit bumpy to get in, but you'll love it! Download the app Campermate. It will have most of the campsites and some other helpful information.

Where are the Toilets and rubbish bins?
@AlwaysAnAdventureWithKids2 жыл бұрын
Great question. It's about a 200m walk to the toilets. It has a cold shower as well. Along the walk there are a few rubbish bins.

Seems to be self contained camping site. Meaning those camping there have to be certified self contained and provide their own facilities.
