I had a Game Gear new, I have several Game Boy models as an adult collector. The improved battery life/usage and actual "can fit into a pocket" sizing of the Game Boy make the Game Gear suck by comparison. Nintendo delivered us a tiny NES and Sega barfed out the Game Gear, which was 90% disappointment if you wanted it to be a Genesis.

The much-hyped color screen was a ghosty mess, and the battery life effectively rendered it tethered to a wall. The Game Boy was far closer to "as advertised" compared to the Game Gear. tl;dr Ding dong your opinion is wrong.
