Man, this game actually helped me work through my own relationship, and helped me come to the realization that while it wasn't toxic or anything, it wasn't good for either of us. I never would have thought about it before, but this game pushed me to think about my future, my girlfriend, and whether I was ultimately happy. I brought it up to my gf and we had a long talk, and ultimately decided that no, this relationship would be better off ending. No hard feelings, we're still great friends, but we're both much happier. And I don't think it would have happened if this game hadn't put everything right up in my face and forced me to think about it. For that, this will always be one of my favorite games ever. It's also a very solid game on top of that, with a fantastic soundtrack.

I've played this game through half a dozen times, and that's not how it goes down. [spoiler] He ends up finding out that he never actually had sex with Catherine at all. Then Boss nervously tries to insist that in his heart Vincent had wanted to cheat so it still counts. All the morning cutscenes with Catherine in his bed merely imply sex happened and every time Vincent complains that he can't remember it because it really didn't.

Its mostly Vincent being a fucking idiot. As we'll see later, he can't remember the majority of the time he spends with Catherine, but he'll still act under the assumption that he consented. When he tells his friends about Catherine he doesn't say, "Hey I think some girl took advantage of me last night when I was wasted." Instead, he tells them "Hey, last night I cheated on my girlfriend with this bombshell hottie. What do I do now?" Since we're talking spoilers, I always assumed that this was apart of Vincent's overarching problem with his personal growth and maturity.

I don't know if i'd necessarily say he believed he was raped? I mean it does depend on how the player plays Vincent a little bit but even a "good" Vincent is kind of a mess, he does actually want to sleep with C (I mean shes specifically designed to be his dream woman, plus his current relationship stress he's super ready to jump her bones) and while nothing does end up happening and he wants to insist he didn't he seems to recognize theres a very real possibility he slept with this pretty woman he DID want to sleep with, not because he was forced but because he knows he's kind of a shit show. His friends are pretty blase about it but they've known him for so long that they probably know he's not a perfect person. Oh course bringing the alcohol into the mix kind of blurs things a little too but during cutscenes he never seems drunk enough to be fully inhibited and the player stuffing him full of trivia facts might not necessarily be canon and count as him not being able to give full consent.

The GAME itself is fun, intricate and difficult. For me, playing the rest of the story was actually quite impactful. I played it with my girlfriend at the time, someone my first "serious", long term relationship. we would chill on the bed, getting fully invested in the story and having conversations about both the content, relating it to thoughts and life experiences Catherine was the perfect fit for that exact moment. The tone, conflict, implications... all fluid, all natural. that combined with the character portrayal & the voice acting made it (at least emotionally and situationally) feel incredibly real.

Wow the best friends do not let up. Deus Ex finishes and they start another playthrough right away. This must be awesome for these guys just sitting and playing through games (and editing). Catherine is such a great game, I think we're all gonna have fun watching this one.

The exact location is complex and only revealed in the Freedom True ending as a major spoiler. Its just best to assume that its an american town that's moderately themed after Japan.

I don't recall there being any Japanese related architecture in that one cutscene of Vincent walking around town. Only Japanese related thing I can really think of is that conveyer belt of sushi which may or may not even be originally Japanese to begin with now that I give it some extra thought.

Me and my wife spent a weekend in Tartarus, very underrated, all the despair and darkness offers a very unique and emotional experience for both the young and the old. You HAVE to remember to get all your shots first though, there is blood literally everywhere.

Fun fact there actually was a side tourney of competitive Catherine at evo which was even sponsored by evo. The current champion is dasidbro who was one of the main advocates of competitive Catherine if you look there are a few major tournaments of competitive Catherine.
