The version of the game that was fun to play was the cut down version they released for the PS2. The controls actually worked, and you could target what you were looking at. You could tell what ground was real ground and what was an out of bounds platform that would straight kill you. Starkiller didn't hold his lightsaber like a doofus because of an animation bug that some thirteen year old thought was cool. There was even extra bits that, as far as I could tell, got removed from the later release.

Ok, I know Lovecraft was always cool with his stuff being public domain, but isn't making one of his vague creations the entire lynchpin of your hundred year old, multi-million dollar franchise just a little bit... weak? One-off detail or background tidbit, yeah, sure, that's just a reference, but fkn hell, man. a Silent Hill veteran using a 3x bullet multiplier is insane to me because Silent Hill 2 is unbelievably easy even on normal mode and especially compared to its predecessor and successor. on my last playthrough I played on normal and ended up regretting it because even though I went ham on every enemy that I encountered indoors, using ammo liberally, and keeping my health up for the Leave ending, I still went to the final boss with double the ammo and health items than I knew what to do with. this game is very generous with the items it gives you, especially compared to 1 and 3. wondering if Past Pat will end up in a similar situation here.
