Dusty is his daughters name. So it’s about his daughter.

haha no dusty isn't his daughters name. He wrote the song about his daughter, about how even when he went to sleep crying, she would wake him up all happy, and they'd have a good time. And they'd 'drop the needle on dusty' (play the dusty vinyl)
