I have historically lost so many garden tools that I could start a hardware store. I finally used orange electrical tape and put 3 stripes on the handles of all of my hand tools. Makes them so easy to spot and saves so much time and money!

Could you give her the topping recipe you use for your fruit crumble? Cause the one that you posted they didn’t make it like you did. Do you add anything besides the flour, butter, baking soda and vanilla? And you used sugar in yours where they used brown sugar in theirs.

hi there, great to see you got a smoke free day, how about running your own experiment and just topping half the tomatoes to see what works best in your situation? And re the scissors, at least your family is never at a loss for what to get you as a present ...... !! think I have about 8 pairs of secateurs dotted around and still have to search at times :)

If I understand this correctly (which is a big if ), your berries will be sweeter in a dry year. More water tends to “dilute” the juices, 😮which results in a berry that is not as sweet. I think this is true for many fruits, including tomatoes.

Chelsea I always had the same problem with scissors when sewing. So I took thin elastic and tied it to the sewing table. Well I was watching my granddaughter in the summer. She was about 5 or 6. Well she was making Barbie clothes and she needed a scissors so she just used the scissors to cut the elastic. I laughed so hard. She is now 34 and I still give her a bad time. I still can’t find scissors.

Yep! That losing of one’s very important garden tools is so darn maddening & frustrating. Been there many times 🥴. My other too frequent garden loss has been my glasses 👓…either from being distracted & putting them down somewhere, or being distracted and having them fall off while bending over…. One year I never did find them. However, the next spring my hubby found them while digging up the garden soil. Guess that falls into category of occupational hazards 😳. Hope your scissors “reappear” ….

I used to blame all the missing items (scissors, knives, screw drivers, duct tape) on the kids. Then they left home and the items still went missing! It was me, I wasn't putting them back. I solved the issue with a few nails in a wall and artfully drawing the item on the wall. Rather than look at the picture i can actively look for the missing item while doing chores.

Chelsea - I have lost probably literally at least a hundred pairs of sunglasses in my driving years. Last month I went to the dollar store and bought a sunglasses...leash? The kind you strap to both arms of em so they don't fall off your head? Fastened one side to my vanity mirror, one side to my glasses. Bam. Annoying as hell, but do you know what?? I haven't lost this pair yet! Ha! Sometimes you gotta work with yourself. Scissors on a string might be kind of annoying, but you won't lose the darn things! Do it! 😂

I saw the scissors ✂️ in your apron and maybe it was used to remove the large broccoli. Grandkids are the best, take in as much as you can while they are young. I’m so lucky to have 5 beautiful grandchildren 24 to 4 years old . I have play days with the 4 year olds ( twins) every week. The older ones we get together every few months for a few hours to catch up but I make use of messenger in between to chat 💬 so we can stay connected. Glad the smoke has finally cleared and what beautiful views you have of the mountains.

TOPPING Tomatoes: Please let us know. your decision AND the time table. Last year, in SW MO Zone 6, I had sooooo many tomatoes set after cool down in Sept. A good thing but It was wild! Sometime in Oct I topped the 7 plants to encourage ripening of the fruit by Mid Nov (our actual1st frost last yr). I believe it worked??? . On 11-15 I rushed to harvest. I gave est 6-8 lbs of green fruit to a neighbor, w/large family. Picked all blushing & ended up canning into Dec! Again this yr , I'm supporting the plants, w/my TX survival tools...40% shade cloth, drip hoses, pruning etc thru another unusually hot/dry summer. Good problem repeat, I hope. LOL PS: I'll never garden without Shade Cloth. Last yr everyone's plants burned up by July. As a former TX resident, I brought my TX tools with me to MO. Glad I did!

Chelsea, SOOooo very pleased that you highlighted the Roo-Joey apron last week. Mine arrived today & I picked green beans for the first time in the raised beds. GENIUS!!! No strain or twisting for this gardener with back & mobility issues. THX!!!!!
