Our adventure began on Instagram when Simon aka Chippy looked up #fruitarian and was magnetized by Tina’s juicy fruit pictures. Half a year later, once in Bali, he suggested a meet-up. Inseparable since that first meeting, together they became insatiable in the hunt for the rarest best-tasting fruits on the planet.

That market is far from being the best. The fruit there is not organic whatsoever (not even close to organic 😂).... the actual produce comes from all over the world which is horrible for the planet as you probably know. A lot of it comes from Spain and that country, even if it's part of EU, has different standards (they are allowed to use way more pesticides than in Belgium for example). And I'm not even talking about fruit and vegetables that come from Morocco, etc. You should visit le marché bio des Tanneurs which is an organic market but prices are different there.

Terrible name for a market. An abitoir is a slaughterhouse.
@tkondaks
@tkondaks 5 жыл бұрын
The only possible explanation I could come up with as to why they would name a fresh produce open-air market "Abattoir" is that the location once housed an abattoir and that location was well known in Brussels as such. And that the original building was at one point torn down and the open-air market replaced it...but they named it after the original place because that's the name and location the locals are familiar with, so it was for practical reasons (easy to locate). Or, the Belgians just have a bizarre sense of humor.

What a pleasure to see watermelon with the huge black seeds! Here in Canada it seems that for the past 15-20 years the only kind of watermelon one can find is the seedless...and the problem with seedless is that (1) they're not really seedless, they have, instead, a pulpy white blob mixed into the redness; and (2) that pulpy white blob tastes bad. I would much rather have the inconvenience of eating and then spitting out the big, black seeds because I remember those watermelons being so sweet and tasty.

I am in Canada also and you can buy seeded watermellons. If you want organic watermellon with seeds, check out your local farmers market or organic farms where you can pick your own. If you want seeds you have to pay a bit more as well. Just google and you will find.

Anne Osborne has been fruitarian for 30 years eating only fruit and she has brought up two children on the fruitarian diet who have always been very healthy and while the other non vegan children were getting all sort of illnesses, Ann’s children were never getting ill. So, if you live where fruit is abundant and in big variety, eating only fruit can be very healthy. I am writing this for all those who have been criticising the fruitarian diet without knowing what they are talking about. It is not for everybody but those in the video have chosen this life style and they know what they are doing, so they should be respected. The baby will be fine.

@tkondaks
@tkondaks 5 жыл бұрын
I suspect I know why Simon and Tina are reticent about showing the baby. In one of the last videos they posted while they were still in South East Asia and before the big break in which they didn't post videos for 3 or 4 months, they did show the baby. Now, the baby looked fine to me but, hey, I don't have children and don't know much about babies and what they should or shouldn't look like. But, apparently, he looked emaciated to many of the other viewers because in the comment section the commenters were almost universal in saying that, basically, Simon and Tina were not giving the child enough nutrition and that whatever diet they were imposing upon him was, essentially, child abuse (I think Tina had said in that video or an earlier one that they would put the child on a fruit diet or something). As a result of those comments, perhaps Simon and Tina freaked out that someone would contact the authorities and that the baby would be taken away. Now, this is just speculation on my part and, like I say, I have no idea what an emaciated baby looks like (unless it's one of those poor babies that are obviously starved which we see in news reports from areas under famine), but I do think it may explain why (1) they don't want to show the baby again; (2) why they did not post videos in a long time; and (3) why they hightailed it back to Europe. If Simon or Tina read this, please forgive me for my speculation but, certainly, they also noticed all of those comments I allude to. If they have a better explanation, I'd love to hear it from them.

Sorry BUT what's about not touching in the market all the fruits with your hands? And by the way, what's about washing figs and nectarines before you eat them? Can't understand it ...
