@@imboomzy they basically did a kickstarter first, so by waiting he is getting a huge discount on the keyboard I think it was $30 cheaper to pre-order it. The Wooting guys have always planned to keep the keyboard in stock, so other than supply chain issues or insane demand, normal people should be able to buy it directly from Wooting sometime within the next year. By comparison there is one other hall effect keyboard project called Input Club’s Keystone that announced and took preorders 3 years ago and it hasn’t been produced yet. The pandemic really screwed up lots of companies, the price of components going through the roof due to lack of supply. Wooting said their microcontroller went up to $100, obviously it would be impossible for them to make a keyboard if just one part cost $100. They moved to a new microcontroller and are rewriting their code for it. The wooting guys are really great, they are refreshingly transparent with updates, telling exactly whats happened, everytime there has been a hiccup, as well as even telling people when they finally became stable enough as a company to finally start paying theirselves. Wooting is definitely a company worth supporting, and it doesn’t hurt that they also make a good product.

From what I’ve heard they only have the lighter springs available as themselves and you have to open your switches and swap out the springs yourselves. I have asked them about producing switches with the lighter springs but they said they don’t have plans for that rn.
@WARnTEA2 жыл бұрын
Since they are halleffect the switches should be very easy to open and changed the springs yourself since the keys aren’t soldered to the board. They are only providing the springs to make people happy because hall effect keyboards need to use a special non magnetic spring. So modders can’t easily get their hands on lighter springs for the wooting. In reality, Wootings heavier springs are ideal for 99% of users. The heavier springs are necessary to allow for the analog feature of the switches. The heavier springs really don’t hurt competitive gamers because of adjustable actuation point and rapid trigger. The heavier weight also helps prevent misclicks when running a low actuation point.
@FearlessP4P12 жыл бұрын
I assume they could have done testing and thought 60g was the best, but heavier springs are not needed for the Hall effect switches to function. The apex pro mini proves that. You could argue that its necessary to minimize miss clicks, but you’ll get used to it. If you want something heavier stay away from a “gaming” keyboard. Who knows the competitive impact of 60g vs 45g springs, but I’d want 45g for peace of mind lol. I’ve tried 35g and 68g switches and I’d say a range of 40-50 is best for a competitive keyboard.

@@FearlessP4P1 they aren't heavy at all, just not as light on the apex
@WARnTEA2 жыл бұрын
@@FearlessP4P1 The Apex Pro Mini doesn't prove anything, that keyboard doesn't have analog functionality. Also, the spring weight is misleading. Yes its 60g to bottom out the switch but the actuation point isn't at the bottom of the switch. There are many different spring designs and depending on the manufacturer they will operate differently, a 60g spring might only take 10g of force to depress a key 1mm, and a 40g spring might take 15g to depress 1mm. In that hypothetical scenario, the 60g spring is better competitively if the actuation point is set to 1mm. Spring typically are easy to depress at the top and get harder to press the more compressed they get. The only potential negative you could derive from the spring weight is if you think that 60g would be fatiguing from bottoming out the keys. However one could also argue that over time the heavier bottom out will strengthen you fingers and improve the speed it takes for you to hit the actuation point and the rate of fatigue will equalize when you body gets used to it and builds some muscle. You could also argue that with rapid trigger that the user should learn to stop bottoming out every key. I assume you weren't talking about fatigue though, and just about light springs being faster and more accurate feeling.

Coming from Wooting One, I returned the Apex keyboard on day 1 of getting it. too light imo. The Wooting two is in my opinion the best keyboard out there. and the 60 keyboard can easily be modded, as that was one of their goals to choose a standardized 60% layout and build it around there.

spring weight force is just preference, depends on what you're used to, gateron makes switches with springs as low as 30g bottom out, that means someone is buying them. Not everyone buys this keyboard for the analog feature alone, that's the last reason I would say, and even if you need to use analog, ligher springs don't make any difference on its usability if you're used to the force required to press it. @@ezioauditore1588 It shouldn’t have less latency. ARM and AVR are both built on RISC, the main difference is that AVR is a proprietary microcontroller produced by one company, and due to that it is limited to 32bit and in total memory capacity, because microcontrollers have everything including memory apart of its package. ARM by contrast is produced by many people and it is a Microprocessor meaning that memory has to be connected to it externally. However ARM can do 64bit and can connect a lot of memory for cheaper. The main difference is that the ARM version of Wooting will have more memory, meaning that they will have more space for custom keybinds. Thats it. Keyboards aren’t complicated. They don’t need more powerful microchips. Thats why most keyboards have stuck with AVR. The only reason the industry is moving to ARM is because they are becoming cheaper than AVR.

Okay So question What would happen if I bought a bunch of Lecker switches, and installed them into a hot swap board?
@colewendolowski24402 жыл бұрын
I was also able to snag a BNIB Apex Pro Mini Wireless for $100 from a Tech Industry worker who reviews products Haha. For $100, absolute steal. I would have purchased the Wooting but don’t want to wait until September :(

Why do you think that you will become pro players if you buy devices with supposedly the fastest triggering speed and buy PC boosts to reduce the response of the system, you do not need to think that all pro players have the best, you think that by buying the same devices as them, you will become much better and cooler to play. I myself once played fortnite and was built at a pro level playing on a keyboard from blood and with a logitech g 102 mouse, you can see how I played on such devices, I have a video with highlights on KZbin who is interested. I don't understand people who are trying to build faster than anyone and bring the mechanics to an unreal level, if you think about it well, people don't build on the pro stage in the fort as in the arena or in the PG, basically all the pro players are built on the same level. As for me, understanding the game brings the pro players to their best level of play. There are many examples where people with a big ping take prizes and consistently play on the pro scene. If you ask me what is the most important thing in devices, I will answer you as simply as possible, without any huge texts, (this is convenience) Convenience is the most important factor in choosing a keyboard, and you should put a huge emphasis on convenience when buying devices. If you go straight into the topic of speed, ping and delay, then about this topic, I told everything in the language of facts from a to z. The stroke length does not affect the keyboard response in ANY way. Depending on the distance at which the key is activated, it will not work faster when playing relative to other switches with a stroke length of up to 2mm. In this case, you will only get possible misklics. Previously, people even complained on cherry MX red that it was enough for them to put their fingers on the keys, as it was already activated. And now the fools from Fortnite seriously do not understand that with a stroke length of 0.2 mm it will be EVEN worse. But at the same time, when playing, when you QUICKLY press the button, the final response rests precisely on the processing by the controller, which rests on the frequency of the USB port. And the 1000Hz usb port costs both in random mechanics - and in the stripped-down Steelseries Apex Pro / Razer Huntsman / TE / Mini. And only Corsair made a 4000Hz (0.2ms) port. But here we are already faced with another problem - yes, the response is actually less. But no matter how you turn it, you will not feel this response. And I don't need to talk about the ending of screens, as one pseudo-expert reminded me. The reaction speed and what frame rate a person sees are completely different things. Your reaction will not allow you to react so quickly that the difference in response between 1ms and 0.2ms will play at least some role. And the maximum reaction speed of a person is 150ms, but the average for pro players is 200. Therefore, when you decide to write about the fact that you feel the difference between warmilo and areh - at the same time, you say that your skill is cooler about players who earn millions in tournaments, who do not prove anything to anyone, but just play, win, and chop cabbage. Then what are you doing in the comments, proving something to someone? Why are you still not doing NaVi great again? But we have moved away from those There are just a bunch of factors that affect why you can't feel or even see the difference in response in any way 1. The monitor response is at least 8ms on the fastest TN matrix with a 240 Hz scan. Let me remind you, the fastest keyboard = 0.2ms, and the average response is 1ms. You are not something to feel. You won't even be able to SEE the difference in response. But, let's say, the monitor came out without a response at all, everything happens so instantly that it is difficult to distinguish the smoothness of movement from the real one, and the hardware allows you to pull games in 500-2000FPS (dreams, dreams ...). But then we go further, why don't you feel the difference 2. Response on online (not local) game servers is always at least 8-10ms 3. Rendering frames takes at least 5ms All these factors do not just run in parallel, but are summed up, and in some cases also multiplied. For example, the ping of servers in CIS countries can reach up to 200ms. Then clicking in the game occurs after N ms ping x on the response of your devices. That is, with a ping of 200 and a keyboard response of 5ms, the action will occur in 1000ms or 1c. But no matter how you use this argument for conclusions like "well, then you need to squeeze every millisecond out of every device" - remember about item 1, and your reaction speed can still reach a maximum of 150ms, if not more. And if you scrolled through all this for the sake of short conclusions: stop doing bullshit in search of the fastest devices and just get high from HIGH-QUALITY ones that you will enjoy playing with. The games were created primarily to get pleasure, and not to compete, whose pussy is longer, whose skin is more expensive, and who has less response. In the end, the faster you learn to enjoy games, the faster you will start to beat everyone, having any devices at all. If a tearing mouse interferes with getting pleasure, there are good reasons to change it. But the keyboard has absolutely no effect on your gameplay, it is solely your tactile and acoustic preferences.

are they releasing a tkl version soon
@WARnTEA2 жыл бұрын
Not soon. Right now they are switching microcontrollers over to ARM and are rewritting all of their code for it., they gave 60he buyers the choice of getting their keyboard now or waiting for the ARM version. They predict that their code should be ready sometime by the end of the year. The reason they are switching is that they can’t get supply of the old microcontroller and the prices have gone way up due to the pandemic. So a TKL version is at least a year away. I assume they will release a TKL version eventually since their first keyboard was TKL.
