You're diving swr tomorrow! Enjoy that, it's such an incredible dive site! Hope you get loads of sharks and some epic conditions. One minor tweak i'd suggest if you did follow my settings - is increase your maximum ISO to maybe 1600 (unless you have lights then ignore this) - just as the site is quite deep and especially around the cave it's very dark. 800 will give you better results, but given how dark the cave is, 1600 will help!

@@eddy_lee 100% will be! On the older hero’s even those with 4K, unless they’ve got 4K60, I always shoot in 1080p60 just so we can slow all our clips down in post - they look so much smoother and more cinematic!

Out of all the KZbin videos on "BEST SETTINGS FOR UNDER WATER WITH YOUR GOPRO" this one has helped me the most. I'm going to try this on some video my daugher just took with her GoPro 9 with a dive she just did on a wreck off the Sunshinbe Coast. Thanks for the tips and editting workflow.

Thank you Adam, really glad you enjoyed the video and im really glad this has helped you! Editing is definitely something takes a bit of practice, but once you get the hang of it, it's quite fast. Starting out i'd suggest just using my workflow step by step as a base and as it becomes second nature adapt it to suit you :) Good luck with your footage and editing!

Thank you for the valuable info! I had a dive about a year ago and at 90' the stock GoPro settings caused the blacks to change to a red tint. I think this was the auto color settings struggling with the environment. Using your settings, and color correction, it made a huge difference on my last trip. I caught some of the best dive footage ever! Thanks again for taking the time to put this video out there!

Glad you enjoyed! Good quality red filters are definitely worth using. Some of them are way too red a but similarly to what I did above, you can remove those reds by doing the opposite in the curves section if there are too much red tones. Careful though! Some cheap Amazon brands give off really bad colours

Great video. I'm surprised you didn't mention red filters which should help so far as they reduce the level of tweaking you have to do in post. A matter of preference mostly if you have the correct settings for neutral colors and the skills to do the colour grading in post.

I think this is because he uses a video light underwater so a red filter would screw with his white light source underwater which helps to give more accurate colors (but only to what the light manages to illuminate)

@@TomPark i understand that which I can change in post prod. But grainy video is grainy it can’t be fixed
@TomPark
@TomPark 2 жыл бұрын
@@Zeesh009 grain is a lighting concern, the only thing that will cause grain in any camera is a high iso setting. Try reducing this to 800 rather than 1600, or shooting in better lighting. No camera no matter how good can produce nice footage with poor lighting The pro res settings are simply turning off the cameras own internal ‘editing and correction’ and allowing you to do that instead, giving you more control. Prores can look grainy, but you’ve also turned off noise reduction settings and things that the camera normally does. This is all stuff you can do in post as required If you’re looking to level up I urge you not to give up on prores so quickly, it takes time to learn this stuff but it will improve your videos and editing skills
@TomPark
@TomPark 2 жыл бұрын
@@Zeesh009 another thing that will cause that grain look is that your blacks and shadows are not deepened. Reducing blacks and shadows to a good level will resolve much of this ‘grain look’. The flat settings won’t do this, which results in a flat look, again giving you the power to darken the dark areas to a point they should be (which removes grain)
