Really great video! Love that you're not just walking around the city but know the stories and the facts and the history not like other travel youtubers. Also finally someone who appreciates the Hungarian countryside! Your pronunciation was also on point and as I've seen you also speak a bit of Hungarian. Where are from inside Romania?

So what we have learned is that goulash is not hungarian at all, it just has hungarian name in Europe. Proof? 1. Onion has logest history in Iran and Pakistan, so therefore actual inventors of that original goulash you talked about, were not even european, and can be older than Sumer. Hungarian shepherds simply reinvented something that people in middle east known knew for several thousand years. 2. Carrot is also iranian, so If paprika came thanks to turks, then actual original dish hungarian called goulash is actually persian food, not hungarian, because all significant vegetable ingredience were in middle-east much sooner. 3. There could be few differences, like Persians could also add curry which was known in Mesopotamia, and turmeric, which could come from India sooner, then europeans started to use it, so hungarian goulash is actually less spicy. I added curry and turmeric into 3 different goulashes/tas kababs, I made last two weaks, and it is very good. But I must admit there is something really magical, when you focus the dish only on beef, paprika, onions and garlic. It is actually my second most favourate dish. It lost to Pizza but it does not matter, because when I have leftover beef goulash I actually put it on pizza dough, to create ultimate combination of my my two most favourate dishes. I also love about both of those dishes, because you can make them in many ways, which I do.

I can't deny what you wrote down. I just only know one thing, which is the word in Hungarian "Gulyás" means "cowboy", the man who guarding the "gulya" the group of cows, so a Gulyás is a profession and these people made their own soup called Gulyás leves (Goulash soup). All of the Gulyás people around the country made that dish, the most important thing that it made from beaf and later as the other spices came to the country, the Gulyás leves changed, but remaind the same in the basics. Your proof is I think okay, in every corner of the world made "stews", and they put everything into it that they could. The Gulysá leves is a Hungarian national food, because we love paprika, it became one. Nobody knows why and how became a national food, but it is and it it's a fact. And because no other language can pronunce the word "Gulyás" it bacame Goulash, which is meh for a Hungarian, there is no connection for the real meaning of the word.

@ Original dish is just boiled onions and meat, there are places which produced onions thousands years sooner than hungary, therefore they developed this original form of goulash under different names thousands years before hungary was created. It makes sense, but you must use logic.
