@@tonymorris4335 - It's not fucked at all, several samples made it through, they're fine (they're just not the X3D models yet). They delayed the official launch so that reviewers compare Zen 5 to _patched_ 14th gen Intel CPUs, which will likely be slower than unpatched ones. The fact that they hadn't even released official prices means this wasn't a last-minute decision, they were waiting for Intel to make a move (announcing the microcode patch). Plus they get to say: "See, we're a very responsible company that won't hesitate to recall every CPU out there that doesn't meet our quality standards (unlike _certain people,_ nudge-nudge), and we'll have it all fixed in less than two weeks."

@@12coco100 The 5700 XT is starting to have issues in some games because of the 8GB of vram, though considering that it's been five years, and considering that it offered excellent bang per buck for a card released in 2019, and considering that its closest priced competitor from Nvidia had 6GB of vram, and with the more expensive 2060 Super also having 8GB, I definitely wouldn't consider that to be worthy of criticism.

Its like people are stuck in 2014. Its been a decade, you're not getting an XX80 ti/s for 800~ anymore, its not happening, it will never happen again, its 200~ more now. Its not the end of the world. You people remind me of listening to my boomer grandparents talk about how they could get a bag of groceries and fill their gas tank for ten bucks. The scalping/mining situation for a few years, when you couldn't find ANYTHING for less than 2xMSRP, was when things were bad. Things are fine now, people just acting super weird.

@@EloyBushida I have had grandparents that did the same thing and didn't account for inflation when they discussed prices from the old days. I will admit though that the $200 price difference you suggest is a bit on the generous side.. an X70 class card (RTX 4070 for reference) cost $550 in 2024 dollars. an X70 class card (GTX 970 for reference) cost $329 in 2014 dollars. That a 67% difference (not accounting yet for inflation). When inflation is accounted for we find that $1 in 2014 is worth $1.33 in 2024. Inflation accounts for about only 50% of the price hike that is observed.

@@davidmacfarlane4761 The 1080TI cost around 800, the 4080 super costs 1000. Its around 200. I'm not just talking about inflation, prices go up outside inflation, its just how it is. @juan180p I'm not sure but I don't like this channel because some of the information they give is off. Whatever the 4070ti super card they used to review 8 months ago was giving way lower performance results that what everyone is currently getting. From like 40 fps less that a 4080S to now being around 15 fps less on avg. The comments section was shitting how bad the card was compared to 7900xt. now this are singing a different tune about old and new. I just bought the 4070ti super. Yes all the cards are expensive but I didn't see the point in spending 250 usd extra for a new 4080 super to get 6 to 12 extra fps in certain games because I'm already getting 60 fps at 4k on max settings.

The issue was that 12gb of vram was deal breaker for such massive spending on GPU, while it was way worse behaving on my 32:9 Superultrawide monitor for all non-RT games, even with DLSS. And here we are, year later, and i'm still super happy about that purchase at the time. 20gb of Vram is great for both RT and FSR. FSR3.1 rocks. @@anitaremenarova6662 For an older system, the 6700 XT or 6750 XT might be the better choice, as an older system is more likely to bottleneck a 6800, and you do need a more powerful power supply, more space in your case, and better case ventilation, to accomodate an RX 6800. However, assuming that your system isn't too slow or just too small to accommodate an RX 6800, even the most basic models of RX 6800 are of better build quality than the cheaper models of RX 6700 XT or 6750 XT, and also considering that it has 33% more vram in addition to significantly more computer power, an additional 50 USD is likely well worth it, and I'd say that the 6800 is actually likely to be a better value, but I think that will also come down to exactly what models are available as well. Pricing and availability can fluctuate a fair bit, and can vary a lot by region. For a new system, the extra 50 USD to get the RX 6800 would be well worth it if you can possibly afford it, imo. Just make sure you have a good enough power supply and a sufficiently large and well ventilated case (it's a good investment to have a good power supply and a well ventilated case anyway).

The low memory bandwidth of the 4060 ti can potentially be an issue, but it's actually very rare, and the memory bandwidth isn't as big of an issue as the lack of compute power, or the very small 8GB vram capacity of the cheaper model. 16GB is probably a bit excessive for that level of compute power, but having more than 8GB is definitely very useful, and there will probably eventually be some games where having more than 12GB could actually be useful with the 4060 ti. The 16GB model is a very slow card for the price, but, if you have very high electricity prices and/or if you also often play games in a hot, poorly ventilated room, and if you tend to play long hours, then the 16GB 4060 ti could end up saving you a lot of money in the long term and actually make back all of the money you could have saved by getting something like an RX 6800 or RX 6750 XT (and you should undervolt it whenever you're not playing demanding games to get the power usage down even lower). The 16GB 4060 ti can also be a good low-end workstation card for some specific types of workloads. It would have made a lot of sense if they had just made one 12GB desktop model of the 4060 ti, but that would have required making a completely different GPU die than the laptop version, which would have cost more money, and it probably would have also needed a 192-bit bus, which would have also cost more money. With the laptop version of the 4060 ti, it is more practical and less of a problem to have only 8GB of memory, given that the GPU runs a lot slower on the laptop variant and thus has less compute power, and likely runs games on a much smaller screen, so turning down the texture quality or the rendering resolution is less likely to actually hurt the subjective image quality as much, though even on the laptop variant, more vram still would have been useful and nice to have.

This is the worst advice ever. If you need a GPU, just buy it. Don't wait for the next generation. You can make that argument for almost everything. Maybe have the latest addition appear larger, then shrink it once the next one appears. The 7900 GRE vs 7800 XT comparison is very misleading. The GRE is 12% more expensive for a 9% uplift in performance, but that's at stock settings where it's very limited. An overclock of 15% to its memory only (which is what TechPowerUp achieived with their sample) results in a 14.9% increase to its performance in a synthetic benchmark. In your 4K 12 game average that results in a 73 FPS average, putting it over the 4070 Ti Super and right under the 7900 XT

I would strongly disagree that 4070 super is a better value than 7900 GRE considering nvidia price premium for LESS vram. there are already non-rtx benchmarks that show that 12gb isn't enough for 1440p. So 16gb vram of 7900 GRE is really a better all-rounder at this price point, either for 1440p or if you want to try 4K.

The price was high but the amount of use I’ve had out of it as a CUDA machine with Torch/Tensorflow for coming on 4 years has definitely paid it off. The 40 series has given me nothing in my price bracket as a decent upgrade so when I retire my desktop from work duties, I expect to keep my 5800X/3060Ti rig for a good while to come. The only reason that would change would be if Nvidia performs a (doubtful) out-of-the-park price/performance uplift in the 5060 class this coming generation.
