Neither is $3... But over $100 and over 25% for something like the G6X 3060 Ti would be. Let's widen the scope a little and not cherry pick so much, just for the sake of negativity. Hope you enjoyed the analysis nonetheless 👍

@@TechLens they are still to high for normal "days" that was before crypto and ai. 7900xt it would be sound more reasonable if is around 700$ max more than that is overprice în my opinion. All Nvidia cards are still overprice and need to lower the price around 150$ for the lower and middle class. Don't expect that consumers will buy a 8gb card on 2023...when we have 8gb from 2016...and charge extra 100$ for the "normal" card of 4060ti 16gb.... In my opinion this generation is a waste of money and don't deserved to be buyed....not in this price range that ngreedia offer.. If you are on 3000 series is not worth it to "upgrade" to 4000 they don't have any good performance only around 5-10% with fake features. For 4000 series only 4090 can be call a good upgrade but good luck buy it on 1600$.

@@DarkDorelNvidia does not care. Either you buy it at these prices or don't. You think they make their cash with consumer gaming cards? They made as much selling cards to AI market, and that is expected to go 7-10× coming few years.

@@TechLens MSI GeForce RTX 3090 Ti SUPRIM X dropped June 29 from $2543 -> ~$1337 (47% drop), in Denmark. They sold out fast, needless to say. However, it is still surprising, to me, that it sold out fast. Personally, I want to see Nvidia bleed before I buy their cards. It's not enough that they "go back to "normal" prices". They have been screwing us over for years now, and Jensen is fueled by greed. Note: cards in Europe are usually listed with all taxes and so on, unlike in the states.

Riddle me this @Techlens Considering how MSRP for a 4080 is still 1500 to 1800€ in Greece, i am wondering this: Are retailers getting a return of investment every time NVIDIA drops its MSRP? Because to my understanding, they bought them at some price considering a margin of profit for them to resell them and then the cost drops to a point where, what are the resellers supposed to do? Chop their profit and sell close to MSRP? Send them back and request them again so they get them at a better price? Is it me, or the luckiest of the retailers are those who did NOT purchase cards at release and can now buy them in the new MSRPs and have them sold at 10-20% off from those who pioneered in investing in new and adequate stock? 🤔 Will NVIDIA now get hated by retailers too for cutting their MSRP, as much as it is hated in the gaming community?
@mikebruzzone9570
@mikebruzzone9570 Жыл бұрын
There is no such thing as a scalper only application competitive perfect price. When the cards are held up in price that is because there are 'segment by segment' commercial and professional buyers still demanding what supply there is in that region. Greece, well, the closer sellers are to export restricted regions another reason for higher card prices that began at Ampere on consumer cards relied for commercial and institutional use. Another issue are the in region transport tariffs and I'm not specifically referring to customs duties that do exist, what I am really referring to is gray market sales distribution taking a cut of the cards in a shipment for regional access; no hand a pallet of cards over for country access, no access and that raises card prices and has been at a very high level of abuse in the last three years the sales distribution system is financially very leaky. Specific resellers that procure cards and then on a price drop are left underwater. Not exactly the way its working currently, but yes brokers can get caught under water on a procurement purchase price over time that was primarily associated with RDNA ll and Ampere MSRPs set by AMD and Nvidia at what is referred to as 3rd degree discriminatory pricing that is actually a run end price regulator pulled ahead in the supply schedule and in the second half of 2021 and all through 2023 sellers said no and priced at what is called 1st degree pricing which seeks the highest price per unit on demand and supply. Economically specific production the first cards cost = price and the last card produced price = cost and that is where a design producer or sellers does not want to be caught at run end when production price on production volume economies, supply and demand reach P = C. Currently RDNA lll are 1st degree priced and the channel searches for price equilibrium on price drops this happens in CPUs also but the price drops are contained to no less than quarterly subject warranty return time frames. Nvidia Ada 4090 FE $1599 is a regulating price cap deployed by Nvidia to prevent inflated pricing but FE as a taper equals only 10% of AIB desktop production volume. FE regulating caps has pulled some AIB models closer but there are higher end more fully featured cards selling for $1800 and more which are a cost : price / margin support for full line cost : price margin concessions everything in the end is cost : price / margin averaged. 4080/70ti are 1st degree priced and 4070 is 3rd degree priced. 4060_ well, 60_ at $299 is price at cost. You mentioned 4080 and he cost to produce a 4080 is $643.58 leaving $555.42 in margin potential if the AIB sells direct. Whether the AIB splits that margin with sales distribution channel is always in question on OpEx and CapEx recovery sustaining design production. End sellers can easily add + 30% which brings a 4080 up to the price of a 4090 FE but still under the 4090 AIB card that sells for $1800. On production marginal cost decline for Nvidia AD peak production is now through q3 and through a producer's 'cost' ramp price will be held up but beginning in q4 into q1 2024 price moves to what is called 'consumer supply elastic' that prices cards manufactured through run down, the last 40% of any production run, down in price on amount of surplus, overage supply, and this is when you will see Ada price and RDNA ll dropping. AD 120 4080ti is also expected q4 into q1 and that will push 4080 under $1000 and drag 4090 low end less full featured cards down minimally $200 so price drops in time. What will really be affected is RDNA ll that is already selling close to cost and Ampere which will continuing come down in price until reaching cost. So the question of sales distribution buying and then getting caught is the result of bad procurement choices because when selling to a commercial customer you usually have the sale in hand and extorted transport tariffs are a big issue, but in time, all prices decline and what I feel is a good purchase strategy, the one I rely, is always to buy at run end and never get ripped off for an inflated price of early adoption hardware / software instability issue. mb

@@mikebruzzone9570 my friend.. i don't disagree with what you are saying but it's not answering my question. I am putting my self in the shoes of official retailers and try to see these price drops from their perspective. At the beginning of my comment i say "Considering that the price is STILL 1500" and by that i meant (sorry if i didn't make it clear) that although the MSRP is dropping, that is not getting reflected in the shops. The question is : If it was to be reflected, i as a user would be happier but would that be true for the shops too? I am not talking about scalpers anyway.. Talking about official non-NVIDIA stores that gave a lot of money up front to have the cards in stock at the previous MSRPs. What are they supposed to do now?Who is paying the difference as the new MSRP is probably the same with the wholesale price they had to pay which was high enough already and then to sell them they had to add their profit plus the tariffs you mention raising the price to what it is (too high for consideration).

@@Achilleas7 RDNA III was first degree priced going in and u needed the full margin to play the game of finding right price. I gave example at 4080 u need the full $555 margin spilt by the AIB with volume sellers otherwise if you add on top of that have a final sales order in hand. Prices are fair for profit maximizers on production costs albeit the new designs have some performance issues associated Navi 31 GCD to MCD latency and 32 TSMC 6 nm not truly understood yet I would say and the AD slim bus that large L2 does not seem to resolve for AD 104/6/7 mobile in desktop implementations affecting card price performance. Original pricing was fair on marginal cost = marginal revenue x2 volume sellers are finding the rational price for performance subject design considerations. That comes from their margin built in from the manufacturer or master distributor or otherwise. That some AIBs offer more pricey cards at any grade SKU supports that grade SKU category 90/80/70/60 average price across the stack; full line cost : price margin usually the mid shelf cards on cost : price margin subject greater volume subsidize top and bottom shelf product price. Top shelf margin can pay for mid shelf but rarely do because the volume of mid shelf is more and the price premium supporting top shelf is small enough to hide across mid shelf volume. 4090 FE regulating price cap worked. 4080/70ti 1st degree price minor adjustments down for 4080 and 70ti stable. 4060 for $299, 7600 for $269 are at or near price = cost. Adjustments down are on the performance questions subject design questions. Pricing started out okay on production and channels are testing for the right price on card performance and competitive alternatives are primary back generation run end surplus. During producers ramp small volume sellers have to have the application perfect sales and purchase order in hand. Price on utility value to the end customer has to meet their ROI requirement; segment by segment application competitive price and that can mean greater than MSRP for end buyers who want basically HPC first dibs and get it by paying for it before others who a on their needs are only willing to pay less. Noteworthy in the CPU market the cadence of price drops a quarter. AMD and Nvidia desktop dGPU 30 day $100 cuts through volume sellers created an 'pen box' inventory buffer ala auto dealer lease and rent-a-car affiliate manufacturer inventory cache to create one price rung down as a buffer zone prejudices small sellers controlled by volume sellers. An interesting after effect we'll see how it plays out primarily against back generation new surplus and secondary. 4090 FE at $1599 as a regulating cap no reseller was screwed by that on 4090 FE access and allocation and subject procurement from AIB starting at end sale $2700 and now $1800 u need to know what u r getting into on 1st degree application perfect pricing. Consulting VARs and design install SIs do. Otherwise, VARs and design build know what the customer's ROI is on commercial procurement need at the time of sale. Volume sellers have the margin to price down without incurring a loss. Vermeer R5K, Raphael R7K and Raptor Alder desktop are good examples of products with sufficient margin and performance to be priced down over time. When an established end sales outlet in the distribution chain gets stuck on sales loses not of their making solution at producer's ramp is an ever deeper buy in too cost : price average out prior loss. This changes for run down volume purchases and bundled sales close incentive where the first question has to be can I make a profit wrapping a product around a dGPU or CPU near run end or not when undervalued by the ultimate end buyer. If that answer is no don't buy it or take it (freebie) or warp a product around it and/ or broker if off to someone else quickly. Holding unwanted inventory at run end can be a game of musical chairs. Suppliers will traditionally make concessions associated next procurements when the prior was less than a square deal but you have to know what u r getting into as a broker or end sales outlet. Low volume sellers have sales order in hand. Parts are not procured until the system or system order is in hand getting next seller up in the distribution chain to take on the inventory holding risk. Overall many did not understand AMD and Nvidia moved from RDNA ll and Ampere 3rd degree run end regulating so said MSRP (fake PR price) to RDNA lll and Ada 1st degree application perfect price relying on channel, deepest margin holders to find the right price. I've been after PC media and tech tube to explain this for three quarters its a cross practice void in the communications system not comprehending or willing to articulate the price change outside so said 'bad price' coming off of 2023 cartelized supply and inflated price. RDNA lll and Ada are fair priced on application need subject profit maximization to recovery OpEx and make some CapEx albeit some performance design flaws affected new card price more than lack of demand. PC product sales in the channel are robust between new and used there is no slowdown in sales when you add used. Current generation GPU price improves over Ampere and RDNA ll cartel 18 month inflated price that RDNA lll and Ada 1st degree pricing attempt to resolve and curtail parallel RDNA ll and Ampere overage attempting to offer a range of GPUs priced for all tastes and preferences. 4080 and 4070ti are like 7900XT_ 1st degree priced and there have seen minor adjustments down for 4080 $100 and its selling and no one seems a looser among Nvidia' 'Pareto' customer base controlling theoretically 80% of the desktop supply. 4070ti price has also been relatively stable. 7090XT has had deeper adjustments down but volume retail had the margin to adjust down without losing. Brokers and small sellers beware have the end sales order in hand. Major issue, AMD and Nvidia at RDNA ll and Ampere MSRP on run end 3rd degree price strategy (creating an illusion of low price) changed at RDNA lll and Ada to first degree pricing not clearly annunciated. Did small resellers gte caught up in volume sellers 1st degree price adjustments holding inventory that was not already sold? Or could be sold at an application competitive price into a commercial or institutional end customer? Specific "drop in price not reflected in the shops" they have application specific prospects that can fetch a higher price and when that is supplied the price will come down. To be caught underwater taking inventory risk, well, there are procurement and best management questions on that one. The channel naturally wants 1st degree pricing and rejected AMD and Nvidia 3rd degree price at RDNA ll and Ampere BUT Nvidia did get cartelized inflated pricing under control on Ampere run end surplus release parallel the Ada price structure. To the extent that AD and RDNA ll price are held up by ends sellers covering their RDNA ll and Ampere run end loses that can be and it's a reality of holding inventory unnecessarily. First tier customers have the margin range to test for perfect price adjusting down on demand. Low volume sellers have quick access to brokers at spot pricing with sales order in hand that can be subject broker price premiums. Ultimately don't get caught with product that's not already sold. Never get caught with product at run end no one wants. "Talking about official non-NVIDIA stores that gave a lot of money up front to have the cards in stock at the previous MSRPs. What are they supposed to do now?" First tier sellers have sufficient margin to perfectly price down without losses. And if AMD and Nvidia made a clear error even through a master distributor there are typically follow on concessions for next procurements that include discounts or creative solutions like AM5 CPU + board and memory bundle what's referred to as secondary pricing. Most channel trade is secondary pricing on components and kit sold in bundles of goods spreading inventory risk around. "Who is paying the difference as the new MSRP is probably the same with the wholesale price they had to pay which was high enough already and then to sell them they had to add their profit plus the tariffs you mention raising the price to what it is (too high for consideration)." Potential revenue difference on price cuts comes out of margin and all procurements are ultimately and ideally cost priced averaged. Specific added cost, transport tariffs for example, add to price forcing the sale up to someone who will pay more subject application benefit until that segment of the market is satisfied after which prices drop and when price drops and the product is demanded supply increases until served. Resellers should not hold inventory that does not have some sort of price protection and today that is primarily on x2 margin potential subject MSRP. If margin is not enough price is raised. If margin decline is the manufacturers fault and in this case on price drops, then concessions are offered on the next purchase. For small sellers buy when you have an end sales order in hand you wont be getting the best discount but you take no inventory holding risk. mb
