Leave me a Comment if you've taken the Train to the Grand Canyon South Rim. If you did, would you do it again?

We were there the July before your trip... We drove from Vegas and did the package deal that was two nights w/ meals included... We upgraded to a suite for the extra space .... We also did the first class seats on the train (the dome car wasn't in use at that time).... The entertainment at dinner was a guy playing guitar which we really enjoyed, the food was ok not bad but nothing special - we will be going to the Rt 66 restaurants next trip.... We found lots of interesting stuff in the gift shops.... We had lunch at the El Tovar Hotel (I recommend putting in a reservation at arrival).....It was really good and the view from our table was amazing.... The host in our train car was Cameron - awesome job by him !!! Next trip - The Polar Express... Thanks for a great vlog !!! And yes - absolutely we would do it again !!!

Thank you for your wonderful and thoughtful comment 🙏🏽. After thinking about the experience, two days and one night is not enough to enjoy both Williams and the South Rim. I definitely would like to spend one night at the Grand Canyon. The Polar Express does sound like an enjoyable experience, too. I appreciate your support and hope you have a Happy New Year 🎈🎊

Really loved and enjoyed your video! I've been to The Grand Canyon back in '88 coming back home from California. Our Daddy's brother Albert and his family lived in Visalia Ca and we went to visit. We stayed overnight in Las Vegas. The Grand Canyon was so beautiful and won't ever get to go back. Thank you for taking me along with you!

I'm really glad you enjoyed it and that it brought back some fond memories. I lived in Bakersfield, CA for 23 years before moving to Las Vegas, and spent a lot of time in and near Visalia (Sequoia National Park) I'm sorry to hear that you won't be going back to the Grand Canyon. Excellent conclusion to a nice getaway. The color and sharpness of the video are fantastic...and so is the narration. You brought tears to my eyes with the shots of the balcony at EL Tovar. 30 years ago we visited the south rim in December after a snow storm. The El Tovar was not busy at that time and the staff upgraded us to the room on the second floor that opens onto that balcony. The boys had a great time playing in the snow on their own private balcony. My how time flies. Have never taken the train before, but hope to do so after COVID. Thank you for allowing us to ride along with you.

I have been to the South Rim of the Grand Canyon, but it was on a group tour, and we weren't left with a lot of time to check out things like El Tovar and Bright Angel. I had a squirrel try and steal my lunch from the visitor' s center/ Not fun! I want to ride the train, and stay overnight near the Grand Canyon. That would be fun!😀
@LasVegasandBeyond3 жыл бұрын
Hi @carlie22168 ☺️. If I were to go back, I would still do the train ride and then spend the night at on of the less expensive lodges on South Rim. That's kinda scary about the squirrel. Thanks for watching and commenting, I appreciate it.

Breathtaking, Alan. Simply breathtaking. I forgot to mention before, we loved the “chasing the sunset” part. So beautiful. Again, as I had said before, we really love all the footage of the inside of the train and even the tracks as you’re riding. We love transportation of any kind, especially trains and planes. I can’t tell you how many trains we have been on. It’s one of the main reasons we are missing being able to travel, so incredibly bad. Thanks so much for such great videos! 🤗🌟💫🥰

From the Train Depot to the viewing area is a little bit of a climb, if I recall there are 4 - 5 flights of stairs, but there’s also switchbacks to leisurely ascend to the top. Once up there, there are no more stairs, but it isn’t flat, slight inclines and declines. I was carrying my backpack full of gear and it wasn’t bad. Just be sure to hydrate, you definitely don’t realize how thirsty you get walking around I hope you have a wonderful time and please let me know how enjoyed your adventure.

That is awesome and thank you for the compliment. If I recall, mine was called the Luxury Package, followed by First Class and then Coach. It is such a fun ride to and from the Grand Canyon. Be sure to give yourself enough time to explore Williams if you’re staying at the Railway Hotel. Lastly, there’s a Dollar General across the street from the Hotel if you forgot anything, or want to save a little money on snacks and beverages. I’d love to hear your thoughts after your experience.
