Nice, I add sugar and vinegar to mine oh and onions but diced.
@Wannabe-Chef4 ай бұрын
Sounds good. Yeah, I’ve made other pasta salad recipes with vinegar, etc. So, that does make sense to add vinegar and sugar for a kicked up Mac salad. 👌

I just wanted to follow up for this awesome crowd!!! Just made this (f’ing awesome! Thanks for the vid!) and depending on your region, Hellman’s and Best Foods mayonnaise are the same product, just marketed differently depending on the region where you live! Like Carl’s Jr and Hardee’s. Shoots bruddahs and sistahs! 🤙🏼 a hui ho!

Great to hear you made it and liked it! And thanks for that info on the mayonnaise - I didn’t know that. Good to know! 🤙

Exactly how my uncle used to make! If the pasta isn’t overcooked, I don’t eat it!!

That's cool to hear! That gives me confirmation that the recipe’s secret isn't weird.

This is the best way to make macaroni salad If you want them you can even add potatoes, tuna, even cucumber. That’s my mom’s recipe. If not tuna even crab meat.
@Wannabe-Chef7 ай бұрын
Absolutely! This is just the base recipe and you can definitely chef it up. I've worked at a another popular Hawaii restaurant that added potato. Cucumber sounds like an interesting one. That would add a nice texture.

I like to make mine with a touch of rice wine vinegar.

Interesting; making it like a nice Mac Salad dressing. I’ll need to try!

I'll guarantee you, that a lot of restaurants use Ken's Extra Heavy Mayonnaise. Seriously, try it, you'll like it better than Best Foods.

Only 1 thing missing celery seeds
@Wannabe-Chef6 ай бұрын
Hmm celery seeds? I’ve never tried it with that. Sounds interesting. Is that a secret ingredient?
@goldflow66906 ай бұрын
Some hawaiian macs have thinly sliced celery or finely diced. If using seeds it takes away the celery crunch that some people don't like. But the seeds are super strong. So a little goes a long way for flavor. A small pinch does alot. Also some not so good brands don't soften and could get stuck in your teeth like popcorn. Wouldn't be opposed to this idea if done properly.

Thank you! I like Dukes mayonaise for this recipie. It has a nice tang to it. Some say it's the mayo that Hawaiian Barbeque uses.
