Made our first trip to the Big Island a few years ago, after enjoying Kauai, Oahu and Maui. My husband and I had assumed that the Big Island was “just black lava rocks and the volcano” and BOY were we wrong! We just fell in love with the Big Island, big time. Too much to do and see in one trip, so heading back in May for a second trip. LOVE this island!

I highly recommend Maui - not as busy as Oahu, not as quiet as Kauai (there are more things to do here on Maui than Kauia) and less rugged than the Big Island but still has so many beautiful places.

We've been to Maui 3 times and just got back from our first trip to Kauai. I didn't think anything could be more beautiful than Maui, but Kauai takes the cake - I learned Jurassic Park was filmed there, and I can see why. So lush, so many waterfalls, and lots of hiking. I'm a little sad being back home, it really was so gorgeous. We had some rain, but nothing that lasted all day. Very beautiful and very peaceful.

Been to Kauai twice, Oahu and Maui. Kauai is our favorite. Kauai isn’t as busy, great things to do, the island is breathtaking. Oahu was nice but extremely busy. While in Oahu I told a local Kauai was my fav so they suggested I visit Maui. Went in March. It’s busy like Oahu but with the price tag of Kauai. Maui was nice but I don’t have to go there again. Kauai is it for me 😊

Thanks for watching. Hawaii weather is always good but it's definitely a bit cooler in the winter which we like but it can sometimes make you miss a beach day
@GeminiDiscover4 жыл бұрын
By cooler, it can get down to the 70s, which isn't terrible. The thing about winter is that the waves on the North Shore are super high, so definitely don't plan to swim on that side (they're fine elsewhere, like in Waikiki), but go to the North Shore to watch the high surf competitions.

The Hele On - our "public transportation" bus only goes from kona to hilo maybe twice a day. Intra kona can be very unpredictable with times and sometimes not even show up, very sketchy not a popular way of travel. In my experience as a long time local, the bus system definitely needs help.

My favorite island by a long shot is Kauai , BUT, if you get sick with something like cancer, have a heart attack, you need to be where there are medical facilities to treat you, that will be Oahu. I really like The Big Isnad even less than Molokai, because of the Volcano, I sure don't want to be in this island when it really blows it's top for good, like Pompeii. Not too many people are fun of Molokai, probably because of it's history, that's where leper affected people were duped, sad, those who did this should be ashamed of themselves, now the descendants. of those who were dumped there aren't too kin of getting thrill seeing tourists , and I really don't blame them. Lanai reminds me of Nebraska, even thought t has it's beauty, it's boring, there are no burger kings, pizza huts, not even McDonald's, lol! Maui so wet, it rains almost every day, some for 3 minutes, others for 3 weeks at a time , I have a friend who lives in Maui , she told me if I had a car, specially if it's new, to make sure I have a garage in which to keep it, because the whole body will be rusted in 3 years, Kahoolawe doesn't interest me in the slightest bit, I don't want to get shot at from the Navy or Marines and Nihau, naaah, that island is just too strange, you really don't know what they do there, you might be able to get in, but will you be able to get out? that's the question. So the only one left is Oahu, and if I had to choose a place where to live in Oahu, it would be far away from Honolulu & Waikiki, like on the North, or West side of the island.
