What home security system did you decide on?

Love your videos. Tough choice so many great choices. I am with ADT and not happy with their tech or customer service. So I am open to other companies. I was almost decided on Vivint but then I saw in the press that they have had lots of problems with the law in the past years. They were just bought by a new company in December so I hope they start acting right. Would love to see you do a video on if Vivint can be trusted again. I'm leaning towards Cove now.

@N R go with Ring Alarm, I switched from ADT to Ring and it's been working amazingly well for me. I wish I made the move earlier, just $200/year for the 24/7 monitoring subscription with the Pro Plus package. The customization and automation options are immensely better than ADT.

Honestly Vivint was best for me. I have them on two of my rental properties (for tenants to use) and I have ring in my house. I almost went ADT and Luckily I didn’t because my neighbor hated his experience with them. Hardware issues and always paid for a tech to come “fix” his hardware a few times. One of my cameras had issues with Vivint and the replaced it no charge. 0 issues with ring so far too. Idk but ADT gives me comcast vibes with random charges and how they make it difficult to leave. With ring or Vivint there’s no contract and you just simply stop paying. Ring as a close 2nd but the whole Vivint ecosystem just works better for me. What definitely sold me was I could see live camera feed from doorbell on my watch. The preset rules to lock my doors got me a few times when I left to work and forgot to lock them. Long story alert🚨 ‼️ If you haven’t heard of them PLEASE stay away from Alder security, I got tricked by a sales rep impersonating Vivint over the phone and set an appointment the next day. Three guys showed up to my house, one with an orange shirt (thought it was a Vivint rep, turned out he wasn’t) and two with a white shirts that said Alder. Never heard of them and didn’t think much of it at the time since they said they were just there to install. They came in my house and they were installing it when orange shirt and I talked a bit to the side. While finishing up he pulled out his “bill” trying to convince me it was formal. “don’t worry it’s just standard and the detailed billing is on the last page” as he was trying to force my hand to sign and skip pages. Red flags everywhere at that point. I refused to skip pages and noticed it was a contract with all pages referring to Alder security (nothing mentioned Vivint) and when I directly asked him “are you Vivint or not” he kept deflecting and saying they were affiliated and that he even upgraded my security system for free. I said heeeelll naw take everything down and get out. Their whole tone switched up refused to leave until I paid for installation and said he can only bill me after I sign the contract. Then he said I could cancel it and prorate it to just charge me for a day, the installation and removal. Trying to convince he could waive it. Nope, I called my neighbor over (that had ADT), who is a cop. He came with the quickness and they took everything down and left. For weeks they sent me bills and letters threatening to send creditors after me if I didn’t pay what I owed Stacking late fees, which I’ll never pay cause I never signed anything. I looked online apparently they’re known to have done scams in the past. Stay away from Alder.

Ring and vivint can easily be hacked, if you don’t have WiFi you don’t have security

I recommend that talk more about the camera qualities in day and night, do they voice alert intruder. Pros and cons is important like monthly subscription. Thank you for explanations.

Yes vivint uses a verbal deterrent through the cameras we even have spot lights instead of floodlights that follow you through the yard and if you stay long enough for the deterrent the light works with it to blind them and send them out of the yard at night

Just a note: Simplisafe DOESN'T offer replacement systems anymore at zero cost. Now, they are offering 50% off a new system. I ordered a new system not knowing that I could get replacement parts with version 3. So I called and spoke to two individuals one in sales and one in tech support ( names withheld) and they said that it was a limited promotion. Why then was I not informed of the promotion and they said an email was sent to everyone, hmmm, I didn't get one and they had the correct email on file (I checked). This leaves a sour taste in my mouth about not supporting old customers , the system hasn't arrived yet and when it does I will refuse the delivery and order a Ring system at a cheaper cost seeing that I already have 3 Ring cameras. This comment will probably fall on deaf ears but it it may help others in this situation.

I find it crazy you praised Vivint. Their BBB rating is absolutely atrocious, their customer service are a liability, and their contracts are suffocating. I say run from Vivint as fast as you can.

I’m desperate to find the best system, but nearly every system be it ADT or Hikvision or Reolink etc… No one can give me a straight answer…. Very frustrating indeed…!! Nice video though…. 😬

I won’t recommend brink, we have had a really bad experience, extremely customer service and the camaras they promised us have not arrived after a year and many phone calls.

Which home security is BEST for an elderly with standard WiFi with ATT. Had appointment for camera surveillance installation with ADT due to my Mom only having standard WiFi, ADT was unable to install. I need guidance/advice 🙄

Vivint now having to pay close to 200mil lawsuits. Talk about honesty and security😢 all companies have their ups and downs but ADT by far to me is the most reliable look for a local corporate rep they really help you out.

You might have actions with ADT because I don’t recommend ADT at all, they are rude and horrible and don’t help you with anything.

apparently ADT has a Dealership Program so your experience could be because of a bad dealership. Someone I know has has an excellent experience with ADT simply because their dealership cares about customer experience. I would strongly recommend getting the company's name while installing ADT and checking out their online reviews. ADT itself has a meager 1.2 star rating on TrustPilot simply because of their dealership experience. Otherwise, the service itself seems to be great.

Out of all the ones you mentioned the only one I could even recommend would be simply safe. You also forgot to mention SimpliSafe has cellular back up. ADT and ring are two of the worst companies to deal with

Adt will charge you whenever you have an equipment issue that they would have to replace or fix.

@@fishiestandbaddest we had 2 issues with our camera within a year and I had to pay 59.99 both times. The last time, I didn’t have to pay because I was seriously going to cancel but they waived the last fee for me so I’d stay. It’s like they’re giving us crappy doorbell cameras. So if this one messes up again within a year and I have to pay again, I’ll pass if they want to waive the fee for me, I’m just canceling.

Cove is the worst system ever. I spend more time on the phone and more time receiving replacement cameras than I do enjoying peace of mind. The cameras suck. Battery life is garbage. And if you dare change your router, wifi network or password, gawd forbid- you will need a new camera. Resetting is a waste of m%#*{+# time!!!!
