@@suburbanhomesteaderwy-az Almost, but mine isn't as "shelf stable" as yours. It's 3/4 c. of sugar, 3 T. unsweetened cocoa, a pinch of salt(but I like a touch more) Mix those together. Add 2T of water and blend well. Then add in 2/3c. of evaporated milk and bring to a boil over med heat and boil 1-3 minutes. Depends how thick you like it. I like mine runny. Take off burner and add 4T. of butter and stir till it's a all melted, then add 1-2 teaspoons of vanilla extract

If you mix your coco and sugar together first,There will be no lumps in the sugar and it will save you time not having stir as much. Also ADD half a teaspoon of salt .It won't be so bitter I've been making this for over 50 years. Just an FYI it's one third cup Coco to one cup sugar .
@iluminameluna4 жыл бұрын
I used to make a sort of sauce like this but I would add butter and a bit under a 1/4 tsp of salt to counter the bitterness of the cocoa (Hershey's). 1 c water, 1 1/2 c sugar, 1/4 c butter, 1/3 c of cocoa, scant 1/4 tsp salt. At the very end I'd add some gd cinnamon. But only because this sauce was destined for some banana bread and peanut butter cookies.

Was the jar or container you used to store it clean? A lot of simple syrup bases will crystalize if there is even just a speck of something in the container. I occasionally have that issue when making caramel syrups too.
