I don't have any experience with heat stations and im literally just starting to self teach myself how to solder. Ive been slowly teaching myself how to soldier for about a year now, but I've only been able to learn once in a loonngg long while. Ive soldered a couple wires together, but they weren't very good looking at all. A couple of them worked but the majority didn't due to a sloppy solder job, lol. I never had a heat station, so it did make things more difficult. Ive been wanting one since ive began teaching myself but didn't want to pay much because i didn't have the experience. However, i literally just bought this exact model, brand new for a major discount of 86.2% lol. Spending only a measly 11$ for an 80$ heat station, i couldn't pass it up. I literally just brought it home and plugged it in. So far, it seems like it works tremendously and it seems extremely easy to use!! Im looking forward to being able to continue my self teaching and learning how to solder properly!!

This thing is slick for the entry price and use. You can do a ton with it. If you have add some more extractor tools and heat shielding methods it does just fine. Mainly for high heat resistant surface mounted components, if you want to do a port of types get low melt alloy and mix with the regular solder joints then extract with reflow on low temp so you don't melt the port. Thing does it all, mainly the tips are bit of a pain to get snug the first time you set them up.

For the price, if it’s just for one project go for it. But if you plan to use an iron and heat gun long term, I’d go hakko for iron, and a standalone heat gun. Best of luck
@tomclanys
@tomclanys 11 ай бұрын
I own a Yihua 706, and it's a super bulky and heavy boy with a compressor, which makes the hose to the hot air "gun" really thick, instead of the fan with the cheaper ones, in handle, but it's a really capable and solid station that holds temperatures pretty well and is as easy to use as the one shown here. I don't know if the 878D is any worse in terms of calibration, works just as good (my friend owns it) and is less than half the size of mine, while having both the soldering iron and heat gun. It might have lower power to the iron heating element, it seemed to heat up slower. I think mine has 60W peak heating. Oh and also the compressor/turbine lets you use much smaller diameter of the heat gun nozzle. I do some SMD works and it's great. The model you said seems like it's similar to 878D, clicky buttons, a fan, lower power. It's also compact and the fan is quiet. Mine is unfortunately very loud when using the hot air, the turbine vibrates and makes my desk resonate with a deep tone. My favourite is the fact that all three settings are controlled by dials, so no holding buttons needed.

Did you try the big nozzle? Also try increasing the airflow - there’s a big difference between vertical and helical wind - and this is illustrated best with your case; try a bigger nozzle, 450 C and higher airflow and lmk how it goes. If it still doesn’t work, I’ll ask someone who knows much more than me 👍

If you are talking about a PC Motherboards thats probably because those usually have alot of copper layers. The chip is probably soldered to a huge copper groundplane which will suck up all the heat. Hi there. I am planning on buyling the Yihua 878D. It is a two in one heat station, with a normal welding stick as well. Do you know if is it the same good as the Yihua 959D? Or you would rather get the 959? It looks like the hot air flow is only (650W) 50W less on the 959D (700W).
@HarryKwastaken
@HarryKwastaken Жыл бұрын
I’d try the 2-in-1 if your just starting out and plan on buying something a little better quality down the line. It will probably last you a year with consistent use then you’ll see some discrepancies. Amazon does have free returns, so if you end up deciding the 2-in-1 is not for you, you know the 959D works well
