Growing up in the 70s & 80s, hot rollers were a huge part of my getting ready routine. I still love using them but my younger co-workers poo-poo them & think I look dated. While that may be true, I still remember trying to copy the Farrah look & the Jaclyn Smith look. Those styles will forever be close to my heart. The clips are okay but I never thought they held my hair tight enough, the rollers always felt like they could fall out at any minute so the pins were always my go-to. And right after I put the largest rollers on the top of my head/hair, I'd hit the roots with a shot of hairspray and let that sit there 'til I removed the rollers. Your technique is pretty great!! My hair, at the moment, is too short for them but hot rollers are where it's at!!

I have my mother's rollers from 60-ties (imagine how long lasting they are?!?) and they give me the best results. The curles last until next hair wash. The rollers are put in boiling water for few minutes and they are ready. Of course, its inconvenient compared to today's devices but when I want long lasting results I use them.

T3 testimonial: I took the pricey plunge and they deliver --great volume, shine, convenience, high quality clips, + great little travel bag. Heating the clips is a great idea--thank you, Em- I'm going to try that. And you are so right about the small footprint--our vanity has one of those pull-out shelves designed to power hair tools (with the internal outlets). i have my 40+ year-old Remington jumbo set on that tray (I could never let them go, (a) they're 2" dia and (b) 20 years ago when my son was 3, he embellished the rollers with primitive drawings. Their value is beyond rubies to me.) And the T3 set sits easily on top of the vintage set, everything plugs into the outlets and surge protector strip, and hides behind the cabinet door when not in use. BTW, aren't hot rollers the unsung hero of the busy morning? You turn them on--get more sleep or brush your teeth, serum-ize, make up, make lunches, whatever, when they're hot, you pop them in, get dressed, make the bed. Curling irons are so needy. Emily, thanks for this great video!

Thank you for your review and recommendations on hot rollers. I've had short stick-straight hair for many years and used curling irons, etc., , but have grown my hair to below shoulder length and dug out my hot rollers that are probably older than you are!! They still work, but curls are not very long-lasting (now I have long stick-straight hair) so I wanted an upgrade (and am asking Santa for them this year). I will check out your other videos as well. I know this is off-topic, but would love to know what lipstick you are wearing in this video. Is it long-lasting? Thank you again.

Though I still have constraints on time and finances, I will be back for the simple pleasure of watching your videos and gleaning from all that you invest in making them what I believe are the gold-standard for beauty-related content on KZbin. For now I am enjoying my T3 because I like volume. However I have never tried the Remington hair colors . Do like the look . I have been using hot roller since high school. Then they went out and curling wands came in that really frustrates me because I don’t have the time to section all of my hair and I have a lot of hair. I like the clips more than the clamp clips . I feel like they hold your hair better in place . I mean I started using them in the very late 70’s . I use too love watching my older cousin curling her hair with the hot rollers and the look she got.❤ I just love the look and yes I do a bit of bad coming to my hair at the root and sides. I’ve had my Remington ceramic rollers for over 10 years. Used them constantly when I first got them but The holder is so large and bulky. I have them stored away, and with experimenting with new tools over the years, the rollers get forgotten about most of the time. Used them earlier this week and still got amazing voluminous curls that hold for days. But I still hate the bulky storage case and considered a new set. I got rid of my hot rollers a few tears ago before I cut my hair. My issues is that with long hair, and a lot of hair a set like the babyliss rollers would only handle about half my hair.
