Just came here to say for people with curly hair that your hair doesn't need to be straightened for this to work! All you need to do is detangle to the point where you can run your fingers through when dry, then keep enough tension on the hair when rolling it that it wraps smoothly around the roller. I sometimes run my finger over the roller to smooth it down as I roll. You'll definitely need to use more sections than someone with straight hair so you can get those pieces smooth around the roller so be prepared for that!

As someone who wore hot roller styled hair for years, never brush with a brush after you take it down. Take it down and let it sit still a few minutes. Then either use a very wide tooth comb like a dye comb or a wide tooth pick. Also, if you want more volume, turn your head upside down and spray the roots first. Work your hair spray one section at a time. Don't just spray all over on the top.

I have been using hot rollers for 45 years. It was a major part of the disco look. I have fine hair and must use them for any kind of volume. I'm glad to see they're finally getting recognized. One thing that we always use with hot rollers is gel. We used Dippity-Do back then. Then the spray gels came out. Either will work but this is essential for the rollers to stay in place and to be able to keep the hair on the roller. Leave in until cool. Use a lot of hair spray to keep the style in place. Do not touch your hair once sprayed for the entire day. I use Conair Big Curls. There is no blowout or any curling tool that can match the look of rollers. I can't live without them. Thanks for the video and your hair looks good brown.

You can still get a great look with them without all the pro sectioning and blow drying first. Hot rollers are for when I want a lazy day and not blow dry cause mine smooth my hair out. This is why I prefer normal rollers i.e. the ones you use on damp hair. It still takes 80 years to put them in, but no more burns, and the curls last until I wash my hair again. I was in 7th grade and was having a disaster of a hair day. One side was flipping out, the other in, and a curling iron wasn’t cutting it. My mom said “I know how to fix that”, pulled out her hot rollers from the 80’s and put them all over my head. She had me sit there for like 15 minutes, took the rollers out, brushed it out, spritzed it with hairspray, and it was incredible! It turned out fantastic! I just bought my God Daughter, Ayden some T3 Volumizing Hot Rollers and she and I are trying to learn to use them. She tried once and it looked beautiful. But she wants me to help teach her how to best use them. After watching your show here you taught me lots about the process, direction and products necessary to take the hair from mannequin straw hair to luxurious lox of flowing wonderous volume!!! Thank you and I have watched it several times now and probably will watch some more and I am looking at the products and did not see the Hairspray.. Plus if you don't mind me saying you are just as cute as a button, full of personality and oozing with handsomeness! If that's a word!? LOL. YOU are very entertaining and best wishes on future productions!!!! YOU GOT IT KID!!!!So put it out there!!! take care and God bless you and your family for the Holidays!! Caleb

I would love to see Brad do one of those overnight curl things that are super trendy right now. I feel like my ends always look bad when I use them and I’m sure it’s the product or lack of products I’m using.
@eminemzie902 жыл бұрын
I have one of these I know what you mean the ends never get as curly as the rest when you take it out of your hair use the hair straighteners to curl the ends it's easy and looks better that way

I've used hot curlers for years and I LOVE them! They were gifted to me 10 years ago and they're still going strong lol. People always ask how I got my hair so full of volume and I tell them, "hot curlers babe" they look at me with confusion everytime. It's worth it! Glad you got this topic Brad.

Oh heated rollers, the things my Grandma had in the 70's, and hers was a set she had bought for her in the 50's, seems the 'youth' of today are just rediscovering things that have been used for generations. We used them in the 90's to get some volume into your hair, quick brush through, hairspray and you were out for the night.

I’m old, but my mom taught me how to do a hot roller set when I was 11 and had charm school. I still associate the smell of Paul Mitchell setting lotion with little white gloves.

@MissMargaret hard to believe you had to use hot rollers with a beautiful profile of natural looking curly hair like that!! 🙌🏼🙌🏼😍
@sparkybish2 жыл бұрын
@@nattypnetto I had to learn how to take care of my curls on my own as an adult since my mom and both my sisters had straight hair. My dad has curly hair, but he has kept it short his whole life. I mostly brushed it until I was 30 or so. But it does make a great base for a hot roller set and it lasts forever because of the underlying curl structure.

What this showed me is why rollers never did what I wanted. Rollers give body and volume with some curls, where as I always wanted more curls/waves and texture. This looks amazing and gorgeous, just not what I was looking for lol
