I’ve had my alaska gtx for around 7 years now. Absolutely superb boots. They were my first pair of expensive boots so I take the time to dry, clean and wax them after each use. They still look new!

Bonus videos included! Beyond a great boot review! PEW PEWs, owls, vistas, and best of all a "One Mississippi" metal target PING! You got a real quick shot of the elusive beast in it's natural habitat but it turned out hard to see like all the Bigfoot footage that is there now! LOL! Fun video, thanks and stay safe, warm, and healthy.

I also had the squeaky noise from my boot, but after rubbing in some wax, it went away. The leather needs some love, especially if it got fully wet.

Ive kept mine clean waxed dried slowly worn daily and the leather all over looks perfect, no nicks scratches, all nice and soft and waxy they look new still. But all around the rand the leathers started splitting wide open and it all looks perished I've not even had them 1 year i'm so disappointed I expected to get 10 out of them

And ive been using the Exact same wax waterproofer as you. I even used the same brand leather conditioner to soften the leather up for the first month of use to avoid cracking the leather.

Hanwags are hands down (feet down?) the best boots. Period. I have the Yukon's and will never part with them. I hear you about the the other part of this trip...it's too bad normal. law abiding folk cannot discuss/show it without being bashed for it. Still the best hunting I have done in your neck of the woods.
@JimmyMeatwhistle3 жыл бұрын
Hi Craig and thanks for the comment 🍻👍 Yup, best boots on the planet. The hunting out here is unbelievable. Everywhere you look there's beasts LOL. Tons of elk as well. 😁

The boots only crunch because you didn‘t care for the leather. That will happen with any boot with that type and thickness of leather

Nice review! Big fan of Hanwag...No squeaking on mine tho...6 years and counting (Alaskan gtx). I'm curious if the extra leather with wide and longer sizes makes a difference...I typically am an 11 but found a half size down fits well and as the leather tends to stretch out over time...anyway. Love the scenery in your vid...thanks for an awesome review!!

I bought a pair of low tibets. Perfect condition. I wore them on the side walk to break them in and the sole exposed off the bottom. I think they call it hydrolysis. It apparently only happens on the boots with cemented or glued soles because they were inactive. The foam used on high quality running shoes doesn't do that and while technically doesn't last as long if in continuous use they actually last longer because these explode if you leave then in your closet for 6 months. Now I will only buy Norwegian welted boots

Ok so its been 3 years my hanwag alaskas look less abused than my meindl lowas and other top brand boots , iv put dubbing in the inner pleats where they lace up and leather rubs and creaks , it stops creaks instantly , i WILL buy these again theyre 110% awesome , still look good , the soles have outlasted other big brands with similar vibram soles , maybe some are tougher than others !? . Only other boots coming close are hanwag trapper top boots , no surprise there , thanks buddy ,

Two questions do you think these would work for a big and tall guy 6’7 300 pounds? Also, are you happy with the black or do you wish you would’ve gone with the brown?
@JimmyMeatwhistle2 жыл бұрын
Hi, I love the black boots. I picked them because of the quality and it's a wide boot. I'm sure they would work for you. 👍🍺
