Every single scene is hilarious and quoteworthy. I've seen this movie dozens of times. Dozens? No hundreds! I did not know that!

I saw this movie when it first came out, when I was 29, I’m 54 now…and it’s still one of my favorite all time movies. I normally only watch diverse cast, because I’m a black woman. However these guys make movies that all can relate to. I’m a fan of all of the Guest movies. RIP Mr. Fred W.

I could watch this all day. I wish they had a panel for every one of the Guest movies 😩 I was working at a video rental store when Guffman came out 😂 I saw the screener and had to beg my boss to buy a copy for people to rent 😂 still my favorite movie to this day. I feel validated it became a cult hit 😂

One of my all time favorites. Up there with Guffman, Spinal Tap, For Your Consideration and Mighty Wind. Reminds me of the SCTV skits in the 80s.

Im a New Yorker. I saw Chris get into a cab on Amsterdam Avenue at 74th Street. I saw Michael and his wife shopping at Westside Market on Broadway. I saw Parker Posey rushing for a cab at Union Square Park. I saw Bob Balaban window shopping on Madison Avenue. I saw Jane Lynch on Sixth Avenue. Hopefully, I'll see other members of the gang in random places in NYC.

Best In Show is an incredible movie, yet, it is my least favorite of the 3 (Guffman, Mighty Wind) because at its core, it is much more acerbic than the other 2 are. Guffman seems to project a naivety and innocence while the emotional heft of the relationship between Mitch and Mickey gives A Mighty Wind so much heart that the other 2 didn't really exhibit. Irony and nastiness seem to drive Best In Show.

The characters in Best in Show are mostly rich/bourgeois people who will be fine at the end of the day regardless of what happens at the dog show. Cookie and Jerry are the only ones whose lives get a boost and even they would be alright even if they lost. The stakes are very low and these characters are all just doing the dog show thing as a hobby, though at times an intense and obsessive one. None of them have desperate dreams of breaking out into stardom or out of mediocrity, this isn't their "one chance" at fame, the show is annual and it's mentioned that several of them have been in and even won other shows. There's always next year etc. Compare that with Guffman where most of the characters are eagerly trying to climb their way out of small town Middle America and become stars, or Mighty Wind, where many of them are reviving dead careers and getting back something precious that they lost. We root more for the Guffman and Mighty Wind characters because there's a lot more depth in what they're doing. In Best in Show it's just economically comfortable people showing purebred dogs as a hobby (Harlan and the Flecks are middle class and nowhere near the other characters economically, but they're not broke or desperate by any means. People desperate for cash don't show purebred dogs, it's a rather expensive hobby and you rarely see any revenue from it). So basically in Best in Show we're given a free pass to just laugh at these people wasting their time and money on a rather silly but harmless pastime. We don't need to sympathize with them, they're fine, we can just relax and laugh at the asinine and neurotic behavior of suburbanites, yuppies, coastal elites etc. who ought to have better things to do.
