I just started a new character on Remastered and just tried this. You are a life saver!!! I went from lvl 10 to lvl 44 usinb 957 wood arrows and the basic Soul of a Lost Undead (is what i had). You are the best

@libralonix I started this one as a thief because it starts with the Master Key, that way I could get the Old Witch's Ring and talk to Quelaag's sister. I never managed it on the old 360 version.

This was the best guide. By saying to press the bumper button immediately after I got it first try, whereas everyone else says the press the two buttons simultaneously.

For anyone who STILL can't get it on PC, I found an alternative method. I couldn't get the "use 999" prompt to show up, only able to use 1. So what I did after I got through the brightness menu portion, was I hovered over the quit button with my mouse and brought up the "Quit game?" portion. Then I lined my mouse up with the "Network Settings" button in the background (You can hear the sound when you hover over it) this is the "use item" button. So quick recap, in step 7 use your mouse to open the quit game prompt, then use your mouse to hit the use item button, which is lined up with the network settings button in the background.

Ok, I can say this still works currently on the steam version. I did run into a problem where after successfully doing it the first time I kept on getting reset order option instead of the use or drop option. On the steam deck I had to use the touch screen to tap on the quite game option and after hitting cancel twice, the third time i was able to get the use item option.

Unfortunately, I don't own the PS4 version (or a PS5 for that matter) so it's not something i can test sorry! I am looking to get the trilogy on PS4 for such testings, so as and when I do, i will keep you up to date. The souls glitch is VERY finickety, so odds are its just the timing you're off a little with. You almost want to roll between the buttons, if that makes sense

The timing needs to be extremely precise for it to work, just keep trying and you'll soon get it. Don't forget to reset back to the start of the glitch if it doesn't work. And just remember the 2 inputs need to happen almost at the same time, so just practice doing the controls one after the other until you've got used to jt

Hmmm that is an odd one, to my knowledge (and testing) it should work anywhere in the game. Are you literally in the same room as the Giant Blacksmith?

Can you confirm which step you are at when this happens? A first, then RB. The timing for this is extremely finickety, so it may take a few goes. For me, its almost like you are rolling your hand from the A to the RB (if that makes sense), so just play around with how fast/slow you are doing it, being both too slow or too quick can mess this up, so start off slow, and work your speed up with subsequent attempts!

I can't say with certainty as I don't have that version to test it, but in theory this "should" work on any version of Dark Souls Remastered. If you get chance to test it, let me know how you get on!

@@libralonix I’m a little late but unfortunately this doesn’t work on the original version of the game. It only works like that on the remastered version from what I found out. Alternatively there is a way to use a weapon like Zweihander and a boss soul to “duplicate” souls. It takes way longer than the remastered versions method but it’s better than nothing.

As a rule of thumb i do not promote cheat engines/modded programs as they usually require PC, and should not be used in multiplayer games as it creates an unfair advantage for those utilising it. If your playing offline only then I see no problem with it. My content will always be made to cater to everyone with no external resources required to achieve the tips given.

@barrekelley4365 I used the steam version of DS1 remastered to record this footage, so I can confirm it does work. Most likely you need to slightly adjust your timing when quickly switching between the two buttons, so just keep trying and you'll soon get it, it does definitely work though 😎👍

It’s 28 Sep 2024 and I’m on Series X. It works. It’s the perfect timing of the button presses that’s tricky. Just keep trying. I’ve done it at least 10 times now and am near all soft caps.
