Good luck to anyone that has the time and inclination to read all this research. I accepted a long ago that I’m like the vast majority of investors, I can’t beat the market. I just ride the market with low cost trackers and get on with my life.

pushing saxo research (and being paid to do so) is a big detriment to your credibility. One of the reasons I used to like your channel is the balanced and more importantly 'objective' point of view. I think it was the esteemed Mr Buffet who once said.. It takes 20 years to build a reputation, and five minutes to ruin it.

Why do you think it’s a detriment to his credibility? Is it about Saxo specifically?
@Chris-ho2by
@Chris-ho2by 3 күн бұрын
@@rezwhap No, not Saxo specifically. I dont have any in depth knowledge of their research, but I imagine it is mediocre but harmless. I dont like the fact that their biggest owner is a chinese auto manufacturer, but that is a personal preference. No, the issue is that I believe that Ramin also believes that their research is mediocre but harmlesss as well, but promotes it because he is being paid to do so. My view is that the finance industry is built upon narratives, nudges and vested interests. Some people wont have a problem with sponsored content, especially if it is declared (as is the case here), but I dont like the ambiguity of being paid by financial institutions whilst offering a paid community - where are the lines drawn, you can never know.

I looked into Saxo after this video. I wouldn't touch them. They have a bad wrap. Surprised he promoted them. Must be good money.

Ramin, do you have that link to the paper you mentioned in a previous video from a few months back about being 100% weighted to equities long/term against the 60/40 standard? Or something along those lines. I can’t remember which video it was linked in the description. Thank you.

Another question to ask on KZbin etc. is who is producing the content and why, eg. is it the CEO/CFO etc. and are they trying to sell their shares and boost the share price, with everything being rosy and upbeat? if the share price goes up, so does their bonus, and if they want to sell and get out because they see a downturn from the inside, they might be able to convince retail investors to buy in as they are selling. Likewise for physical commodities which they might be selling. Likewise when KZbin channels have CEOs/CFOs etc. on as guests, beware of the sales pitch.

Hello Ramin. In addition to clickbait, isn't another danger of equity research put out by investment banks that it can be a ploy to get retail taking the other side of their trade (thus providing liquidity?)
@CuriousCrow-mp4cx
@CuriousCrow-mp4cx 3 күн бұрын
No; the banks are merely scalping retail for commissions and fees. They're concerned less with the actual value for money you'll get, than getting the biggest cut of whatever asset or financial services you buy. Retail does not get involved in the big wholesale trades. That happens between banks and non-bank financial institutions. What they will do is manipulate outcomes by betting and using their market power in options and other derivatives linked to equities of individual equities. This is why the stock market and the options market are known as the Little Casino and the Big Casino respectively. And the Banks are the House in both, and as the saying goes, the House always wins. They know how firms can manipulate equity prices in pump and dump schemes and create bubbles, and their always selling the dream to retail. Most retail buyers wanting exposure to equities would be far better off in passive investment vehicles that are based on the whole market, rather than speculation on individual stocks. So buying the right index funds or ETFs that actually own the underlying assets they're indexing is the best way to go for most people,

Hi @mousquetaire86 investment bank equity desks make their money through flow i.e. they don't really care whether clients are buying or selling, just that they're doing either. Bid-offer spread works both sides of the trade. Volume is what matters. You could argue that research is there to generate volume. But if you speak to a research analyst they're usually trying to get at the truth behind the value of a stock. So there are different goals even within an investment bank (sales & trading trying to make a buck, analysts trying to make their name). Thanks, Ramin.

On the subject of research, I wasn't sure if you were aware of OpenBB ? Hopefully it might be a viable substitute for the Bloomberg/Refinitiv terminal cost? Great video, and hope all Pensioncrafters have a good weekend!

you say you "like Saxo" as it present info and would help a user make an informed decision. However do You(pensonCraft) personally use Saxo to make your own decisions driven by their platforms insight? - or is this just sales snake-oil that can be applied to any research platform..... !!!!. Credibility is everything. Saxo's representations are only their view of a stock (maybe biased [to help scew/change market perspective or unbiased). - is this any different from a "fund managers (heavily biased view) ?

I always wondered what ‘strategy’ meant in a particular asset class at a bank, so they’re just research with a fancy name.
