@@bluflaam777LSA I would have to agree, while a capacitor kin the loop would certainly help, I have used the NOCO GB40 repeatedly at work and on only one exception Cadillac 3.6 SUV. Everything starts. The Cadillac is likely sensitive to the low voltage unlike most cars. I would probably recommend the next model up or the one he indicated to cover everything. The NOCO he tested actually will start from 0 V if you hold the override button down for a few seconds. This feature is also on the GB40 NOCO and is why I purchased this as most cheapies at the time didn’t try if it can’t see the battery for safety reasons I suspect. The NOCO is quite sturdy and has been quite reliable and has all the electronic internal unlike some of the cheaper unit (although quite a few cheapies were quite good here)

You said the NOCO won't activate with a completely dead battery, but did you try the override? The NOCO is by far the best, our Fire Department has tried possibly every brand and only keeps Noco on the trucks. I just wanted to add that the NOCO will start a completely dead battery. You just have to disconnect the negative cable before you press the override button. After it's on reconnect the cable, just remember that the cable is live and will spark when reconnecting. It took me months to realize this after having it. I think it's some sort of safety feature. Love this channel, by the way.

@LilRedDog10 күн бұрын
@@LoSGaines That makes zero sense: Disconnected from the battery it would, also, sense zero volts. You have to disconnect it to ensure you are paying attention as you are about to disable all 12,10,14 (however many) 'protections'.
@LoSGaines10 күн бұрын
@LilRedDog ok. I guess I have to be absolutely completely clear for all you detail police. When the noco is hooked up to a battery it does an ohms AND volt and temperature and other tests. If it senses that it's connected to a circuit with no volts, override doesn't work. You can however use override when it's not hooked to a circuit. I bench test parts all the time with override but it has to be unconnected from the zero volt test part while pressing override. After it's on is when I connect the negative and buzz launch the starter right off of my workbench. I can do a video if that helps.

In fact so happy, I bought a smaller one (GB40) for my old hatchback and it saved me a few times already. I can't afford to buy cheap, please keep up the great testing! In our auto shop, we use the Noco jump starter multiple times daily. It reliably starts numerous cars on a single charge, and even after three years, it’s still going strong. Although the battery has started to degrade, it can still jump several cars on one charge. Additionally, pressing the lightning bolt button forces it to deliver 12V, allowing it to jump even a completely dead battery.

@@lgoamity Gooloo has had their GP line (in a few different colors signifying ampacity) for several years. I believe they discontinued or at least altered one model I bought in 2017 but IME that was probably a good thing. (It has a 19 VDC out to power a laptop which mine did not like much as it drained over 2 hours and got pretty warm. Still works great as a jumper pack and a USB battery bank.) Both of my Gooloo packs and the ones that my family has received from me or bought themselves all perform flawlessly and I've never had or heard any issues over any of them. Their model line has been pretty stable over the last several years. I've had mine since about 2017 and my 2nd since about 2019 IIRC. Both still work great. The Noco also have been pretty stable in their lineup AFAIK and perform well. Some of their smaller packs seem to be outperformed by the similar sized Gooloo packs though and all are a terrible value where the other brands exist. Unless they will just outlast all the others. Which I hope a Noco lasts 3x longer than a Gooloo for the 3-4x cost, but going on 5 and 7 years now at under $100, I'm happy with these two. Probably going to buy a 3rd soon.

Bought a NOCO based on your tests in previous videos. I've used it as a power bank a couple of times while camping, the light is useful for checking under the hood at night (changed my headlight bulbs once and looked for an oil leak another time.) But my most exciting use of it so far has been jump starting a stranger's F150 **seven times in a row** to get him three miles down the road to the nearest battery store. He had ran his battery into the ground prior to that due to a failing alternator. We kept jumping it to get it a few hundred feet before the truck would die again; hop out, jump, go as fast as his limp-mode-addled-truck would let him, rinse and repeat! When we finally got it to the store, his battery was at something like 7.4 volts! (And to be clear: in the moment, we had no wya to diagnose the issue, and there was a language barrier. I warned him that whatever was wrong wouldn't be helped by repeated jumping, but he was okay with how we got his car to the shop. We only figured out it was the alternator after using a multimeter borrowed from the battery store. Me, personally, I'd never risk my ECU/electrical system like that.) That jump starter still had two bars left and started it on the first crank EVERY. SINGLE. TIME! Have jumped a handful of other vehicles in the year or so that I've had it, can't sing enough praises. Thank you Todd! 😁

@ProjectFarm9 күн бұрын
Thanks! Thanks for sharing.
@chris83839 күн бұрын
One thing to take into consideration with super Cap chargers is if your battery is completely dead there is nothing to charge the Caps and the unit will not be able to provide a charge to jump the battery. The super Caps chargers can be charged up with USB or a 12v power source and then will be able to provide a jump charge. The super cap chargers do self discharge over time. The cap chargers draw amps from your vehicles battery to charge the capacitors, the capacitors in turn act at as a super charged battery to deliver a larger jump charge to your battery.
@Bob-lt5hf9 күн бұрын
@@chris8383 You can charge the Autowit Supercap2 with the included usb cable. I have charged this unit with a Blavor 20000 mah solar pack. My battery was dead and would not charge the pack so I used my solar power bank to charge the supercap2. It did jump my battery and was able to get to a mechanic. You do make a great point and also if your alternator is bad the supercap2 will not matter at that point.
