On two of my damaged Minimag lights, the damn Duracells not just damaged the cylindrical housing, but I had to use several drill bits to unsuccessfully try to save them or even just trying to remove the putrefact cells from the devices!... The corrosion was so severe that not only the housing was damaged, but the entire head too. And those leaking cell were never subject to any extreme temperature, shock or vibration ever! Duracell was the best many years ago, but today is almost GUARANTEED TO LEAK in the worst possible manner. And my Minimag-lite lanterns were not the only things damaged: two remote controls, a wall clock and a battery powered soldering iron. Todd: I don't care how "good" Duracell Alkaline AA ended up in your tests, I will NEVER buy another single cell from Duracell, and will keep warning all my friends and everyone I can against buying these garbage product.

Great video! One data point I'd like to see included, though, is Watt Hours. Variations in starting voltages, internal resistances, and discharge curves could create significant differences in total energy output. It's very likely that this could show the lithium batteries to be an even better value, too. As for leaks, I'll never use another Kirkland battery. They have not only leaked in almost every device I've put them in, but several AA and AAA cells leaked in the package, with over 2 years left on their expiration date. Those cells were stored in my desk drawer, at 65-75 F, so environment shouldn't have been a factor. I use Amazon Basics, based on your previous AA testing, which showed them to be the best value in cost per mAH. Never had a single Amazon battery leak.

Great video as always!!! I've stopped using Energizer's after multiple burst cases while in devices. Brand new, well within expiry date, different batches, etc. Their customer service didn't care. Harder to find Duracell now for some reason. I've switched all to the Amazon Basics and/or generic alkaline. No issues at all, and far cheaper. Thank you for what you do, and your efforts.

A lot of people have been very happy with eneloops for a long time. They have stellar longevity, a good self discharge rate, somewhat lower MAH ratings and aren't priced terribly. A winning combination for value in my opinion.

Great work as always! One factor not addressed is a major problem with AA batteries and that is leakage of electrolyte within flashlights and electronic devices, which often damages and destroys expensive equipment. The very worst in this regard in the Copper Top Duracell. I often find these leaking inside devices well before they are anywhere near total discharge. Duracell is absolute garbage!
@Petroscapes3 сағат бұрын
I second this! Duracell used to be my go-to, but in the past few years I've had multiple packs of AA and AAA with many leaks from each pack. Some were just in storage in my office closet, with expiration dates years in the future. I complained to Duracell about an unopened pack that had multiple leaks. They sent me a coupon for another pack, which I'll never use because I don't trust them.

Funny you should ask...... I just returned 2 of the big Costco packs of Duracell's. 1 each of AA and AAA. One was only a year old and one was bought in 2019. Respect to Costco for taking them back, no problems. the one bought in 2019 were supposed to be good until 2035 +/-. Both packs had multiple batt's leaking. I'd used about half the batt's from each pack. Had one pair of AAA's leak in my Roku remote but I seemed to have cleaned it and it still working. I noticed new Duracell's don't have a "lasts until" date anymore. I guest more than myself had problems. Thanks again for another very usefully video!

A review on 12v (off-road) compressor would be great. Ones that hook up to the car battery or through the cigarette plug. Some things to test could be runtime, how fast they fill a single tire, how fast they can fill multiple tires (when connected to 2 or more times at the same time), temperature during use/after, power draw, how loud they are, and size of unit (plus maybe their space taken with accessories in storage bag provided). As always, appreciate the content! Thanks!

Outstanding sir. When I was active duty in the USMC. Back in 83-87. I was in communications Platoon. We had a new battery for our MRC- 108 UHF radio. It cost back then over $1,000. The regular alkaline cost $100. After using the lithium battery I was impressed. It lasted for 7-10 days was half as light in weight. And we figured out how to recharge them! The alkaline lasted at most 36 hrs. Extremely heavy and not rechargeable! If you can afford lithium and a rechargeable, BUY IT!!!!!!

Absolutely the BEST test of batteries ever. I switched to Duracell two years ago after having bad experiences with Energizer and Amazon Basics crapping out in remote controls and other devices, the Duracell is better. Energizer Lithium were my go to battery for high drain items such as camera flash units, but the cost per cell is getting out of hand. Looks like Powerowl lithium is in my next Amazon order. Thanks again !
@captainmike53034 сағат бұрын
Duracell claims to be leakproof, but I have had battery leaks almost every time I used them. I like the Energizer Lithium the best, but they are expensive. My biggest complaint is when you use an LED flashlight you cannot leave the batteries in the flashlight or they go dead very quickly. I usually leave the end of the flashlight off and screw it on when I go to use the flashlight.

According to Google (so that that as you will), a dead battery bounces higher because the electrolyte gel inside the battery becomes more solid as the battery discharges, making it less able to absorb the energy from the impact, causing it to bounce higher than a full battery.

thanks for the update. In previous tests - I had disagreed in the comments about the lower rating of the eneloop, which I have used for a long time and in my experience they just keep going and knew they were a top notch battery worth the price.

I'm glad you followed up on the rechargeables. I basically cried when I bought Eneloops for my flashlight because of the price but you fortunately showed it was worth it. Goodness! (Note though, won't recommend them on devices that stack batteries in line to each other, the negative end seems soft and will cave in against the positive bump of the other battery)

Interestingly, my wife goes through 150 AA batteries each Christmas powering window candles, and we were both shocked how long the Amazon Basics she used last year lasted compared to prior years and other brands. My real question is about consistency in each brand’s performance. I am quite surprised the Amazons did so poorly.
